I had the 16.8 volts modified battery pack where previously I hadn’t had any problems it’s only when I changed to the detech coil that I had problems.

Critically needed information. Minelab-compliant coils have a lower resistance than stock TDI coil and normally work just fine on TDI. But when you increase the battery voltage there is a risk of overheating when using low-resistance coils. Lots of people have run high-voltage batteries in their TDI but the extra heat that generates really needs to be addressed.

I've used an 18" Detech concentric coil in DD mode on both a TDI Pro and a QED PI.
When wired/used in DD mode the outer coil is TX and the inner RX.
Test in pictures (from video) is an Oz 10¢ coin (US Nickle) at 14" on a wet ocean beach.
Original supplied battery on both detectors.

Thank you for the reply. Knowing this I’ll stick with the stock coil and possibly go back to using the original battery pack.

Hi Ivanll,

I’ve also a tdi pro as well as the sl version.mine are both used for beach detecting, and I really prefer the smooth threshold of the sl to listen for deep faint signals.with the tdi pro threshold being harder to tame, could I please ask you how you adjust yours to stabilise it?
