For what it’s worth department: Never work it alone and always let someone know when you should be back . Tell them if you’re not back when you say you will be come looking for you right away .Above always carry a big stick as in a pistol .

People will kill just thinking maybe you have something of value on you.

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. I'm hoping to keep my overhead low and not need any, but who knows what will happen in the spring.

A few things have happened since posting this. I met a new friend who live nearby and he said they were actively mining it until the collapse this year. They tried to get back in for sure. I'm wondering if it was his family, or if the owner died this year and the family did not take over payments because.....

It appears I got it the month after it lapsed in September. I don't know if he died and the above assumption is correct, or if the family had every intention of continuing. The BLM guy helping me said they still have an active NOI with bond money on file. He scared the hell out of me that there was a paperwork error and I didn't have the claim, but the mining office confirmed it is mine after they let it lapse. He also knew the exact mine and said there was no collapse on his inspection this last year.

So talk about lucky... I showed up to this spot to check out a possible placer claim and discovered the addit. For the hell of it I checked and it was unclaimed...with no idea it had just lapsed. After 20-30 years of them owning it.

I started an LLC, applied for my FEL to blast, and I'm working on the bond money for an NOI so in the spring I can open it up and see what I'm working with. A hard rock miner in Montana is building me a crusher and trying to get a mucking machine down in the spring. I wish I could support it now so I could kill time in the winter by trying to clear it out by hand. But there's no way.

It would take a stock raise  which would be done under a private placement. Google it. Regulations are very favorable if you can convince potential investors your plan is legit & has promise.

You're not the first to say this, but may I ask why? If it's being attacked or robbed, I'm really not worried about it. If it's about government regulations, the mine is already very on their radar, so I have to play by their rules anyway. Feel free to message me.

I cannot believe after weeks of searching I got ahold of one of the original owners. He is in his 90's. Sadly, he still thinks they own it. He said they sold it to his nephew. I don't know if his nephew wasn't aware of yearly fees or forgot, but he did not pay.

He told me they were hitting pockets of 4 oz/tn. So I'm thinking I should pay whatever it takes to clear the collapse and do some sampling.

Really, all those reasons.  Also, avoiding a legal battle with the relatives as long as possible.  4 oz per ton is remarkable.

This was told to me by someone much wiser than me who earns money in the mining industry.

The small mining community does not have many forums, and anyone who was familiar with your claim this probably has seen this post. The only other forums I know of are the GPAA, maybe the AMRA has one, and treasurenet.  Only treasure net gets any meaningful posts.  If I’m missing anything let me know.

Do you think you’ll get any meaningful hard rock mining advice here?

I’d rather I hear nothing more and believe you went out successful than hear your adventures.

The other guy that said the same thing is a successful hard rock miner. "Be careful with what you post." I took that as don't blast the location out with a bunch of pictures of work. But you're right. It's probably far more to lose than gain. If it works out, I'll try to update long after it's all set in stone and done. Thanks

I have always found that if you ask the questions someone will help to answer them.

Good luck with your mine.
