AT Gold & ATX Discontinued

The ATX and the Gold have been discontinued but may still be available.

With the advent of the Vortex, my Distributor announced they will no longer be stocking the AT Pro or MAX.  They will be Special orders only.

For sure, the Vortex just became available and is hardly fully field tested for all purposes and conditions.

It leaves some holes in their lineup, the AT Gold was waterproof and proper waterproof too, so now for gold prospectors that want to buy Garrett for use in the water, there is no option with the 24k only coming in the non-waterproof version.  The ATX also had a waterproofing attribute that some may like, the Axiom doesn't.  

To keep their lineup being complete they really need to make the waterproof 24k and an Axiom version that's waterproof, a little birdie told me a competitor is about to release something like that which will likely quickly dominate that market.

I can't see the AT Pro and Max being discontinued for a couple of years yet with the Pro the first to be culled.

On top of that the AT Gold was the best of the three after owning all three aside from not having wireless audio built in.

The Vortex is 25kHz versus 18.  Maybe that's why they're dumping the Gold.

I recently sought information regarding a waterproof Axiom because they came up with a waterproof screen (Vortex) and was told, not very likely.

When they reintroduced the 24K, I asked why they didn't go with the GM Sport instead and they said the 24K was the easiest to bring to market.  I inquired about future production of the Sport.  Their answer was, that it's probably not going to happen.

I'm not sure about the Marketing Department but Customer Service only knows Garrett.  Hopefully, R&D is looking at the competition. when coming up with ideas.

Gold Bug 2 in production for 30 years now, GTI 2500 nearly as long. It’s simple. The ATX and AT Gold are not selling well enough to justify making any more of them. The Max and Pro are not going away yet; your distributor is simply making a questionable bet the Vortex will make nobody want them anymore.
