Wow again. Finally, Garrett is finally getting serious - this was the price I wanted all along. My Under 4 lb Under $2000 GBPI Challenge has now finally been well and truly met!

Way to go Garrett, they are way ahead by a big margin now by currently outpricing all the other nugget PI options currently available in the U.S. marketplace. Hopefully Oz will get the same price reduction.

At least one company understands the direction of the marketplace for Gold Detectors given the general decrease in available gold to detect.  I am sure Garrett will still make a good profit off each unit, AND sell far more.!

Now Minelab has two choices -- Come up with a TRUE technology leap that makes their brand worth paying their ridiculous prices, or reduce not increase prices.!

As for Garrett -- Good for them.!  Now correct the shortcomings of the Axiom -- Wireless Dropouts, and Lack of Bluetooth.!

If I could pay the current conversion and get one here that price I'd be a proud Axiom owner, hopefully this flows onto the international market, outstanding, and very wise of Garrett.  The only mistake they made was not doing this from day one.  What a fantastic deal for a great detector.

This new price model might be enough to build up market share enough to inspire the aftermarket coil manufacturers to take another look at Axiom coils as the two going to do it both pulled out.

This would be a great thing. The axiom is already a close competitor to the 6000 from the reviews I've seen. After market coils could possibly make that claim Undeniable . I think it would be a great opportunity for the coil manufacturers, and would snowball into even more axioms being sold. Win win

Was there pressure put on the coil makers to drop their projects by Garrett competitors?

I agree the Axiom is a close competitor to the 6000, would be even more so if it used aftermarket coils.In having more settings/mode control especially manual GB the Axiom surpasses the 6000 in some ground but(in Australia) another competitive lightweight the Algoforce which uses the many aftermarket (and DYI) coils at a price that blows the Axiom away (in Australia). I owned/used an Axiom for a season with top results, replaced it with an Algoforce, and suggest perhaps Garrett have dropped price because they fear the Algoforce is soon to be introduced to the US market. A puzzle.... contrary to perceived market forces why in Australia did Minelab raise the price of the 6000???
