Thanks for showing the process.

What is an estimate of the cost of doing 50 stones?  How do you price the work?

Excellent craftsmanship  ...Beautiful.

Very interesting.  Spectacular work.

Thanks for Posting.

For anyone who is interested, there is actually about a square mile set aside near Plush, Oregon which is open to the public for sunstone collection (for free).  Without actually digging, you will probably just find abundant clear or honey yellow stones with an occasional pink or blue schiller.  They will be scattered around like dew in the morning.  If you only pick up the larger ones (perhaps 1/2 inch or larger), you could still pick up a half gallon or more in a day.

Better quality stones (e.g. chunky schillers, reds, greens, watermelons, etc.) can be mined at a fee dig area close to the public dig area.  There used to be a couple fee dig areas there. I don’t know how many fee mines are still there, but I believe the Dust Devil Mining Company is still in operation.  My dad and I mined quite a few nice stones there once upon a time. I never got them faceted, and they are still in several bags.  I will post some pictures later if I can find them again.
