Popular Post 1491
The X-Terra Elite and I continue to get along! I don't remember my last 3 ring session! 2.5 hours at a tough beach, due to the abundant melted aluminum. Moved away from the aluminum zone to a previously unsearched area and started finding copper memorial pennies and an occasional nickel. There was a layer of dense clay below the coins, a good sign. All dates from the 1960s and 70s. Then, a broken plain silver band. 20 minutes later, a 10k Texas high school class ring from 1965, with initials. I'll contact the school and see if the owner can be found. Then, another silver ring, an old girl scouts vintage design. All found in a small 40 foot wide zone at the bottom of a slope where the beach begins to flatten out. But, no erosion at this beach this year, just sand overlaying a beloved clay layer. No quarters at all, which seemed odd. Did someone else cherry-pick the quarters? I will be back soon! Thanks for looking. - 1491 19 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27505-3-ring-day-clay-silver-gold-silver/ Share on other sites
Heavygold4me
I’d trade quarters for rings any day. Definitely would be back for another round soon, congratulations. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27505-3-ring-day-clay-silver-gold-silver/#findComment-288842 Share on other sites

You certainly don't have to spend a fortune on a detector. The melted aluminium would give me the shivers, but the rings you had are older and obviously being supported on the clay. You got 'em, now go back and enlarge the area. Did you get the smaller coil too? 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27505-3-ring-day-clay-silver-gold-silver/#findComment-289464 Share on other sites

Did you get the smaller coil too? I'm using the stock coil on the Elite. I do have an ETrac with a 5x10 coil for tight, eroded spaces when depth isn't so important. I did extend out the search area to no avail. I think the eroded spot (on nearly naked clay!) was limited to a small concavity in the shoreline, where high winds from an atypical direction had been blowing for 2 days. I believe the wave energy was amplified in this one small spot. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27505-3-ring-day-clay-silver-gold-silver/#findComment-289486 Share on other sites
