Interesting comment on how he perceives the electronics gets cluttered/overloaded. I notice this on a daily event when hitting many ferrous targets, heavier black sand with higher sensitivity or strong wave wash. A very good explanation by him. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27511-gary-blackwell-hunts-with-his-equinox-800/#findComment-289158 Share on other sites

After a frequency scan & ground balance only minor site specific adjustments to sensitivity, recovery & iron bias, if needed. So simple it works. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27511-gary-blackwell-hunts-with-his-equinox-800/#findComment-289997 Share on other sites
Jeff McClendon
The only times I did Equinox factory resets was when I updated software, changed coils or when my Equinox had not been turned on in a while. Same with Manticore. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27511-gary-blackwell-hunts-with-his-equinox-800/#findComment-290080 Share on other sites

At first I played with every setting combo but the truth is in the end a rake and a larger magnet delivered me back to the basics. A lot of layered iron trash and rust halos to scrape through but every once in a while a good target pops out. There has to be an old belt buckle down there somewhere. 1491
Interesting. Not sure I buy into the 'accumulated cookies' analogy though. Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27511-gary-blackwell-hunts-with-his-equinox-800/#findComment-290239 Share on other sites
