On February 05, 2024, I was metal detecting at a late 1800s to early 1900s farm/dump site and stumbled upon something incredible. After digging up several ball jar lids, I got a signal that I assumed was another lid, but it turned out to be a Minneapolis Police badge numbered #62! I felt a rush of excitement and curiosity - who did this badge belong to and how did it end up in Michigan? So many questions raced through my head! 🤯 My research suggests this style of badge was used from 1900-1915. I've reached out to the Minneapolis Police Museum and Minneapolis Police department, but haven't received a response from either. I'd love to hear from anyone who might have information about this badge or know someone who can help me learn more. The last pic is of a non dug example.
