Popular Post Dutchman4
The sensitivity to small gold of the GPX6000+NF 12x7 coil keeps amazing me. These small nuggets range from 0.022g to 0.26g and all were found in two nearby patch areas. The smallest ones were between 1/2 inch to 1.5 inches deep but still very audible as long as you slow down the swing speed and methodically cover the ground. Most of the time I use gain of Manual-10 and used "Difficult" to eliminate most of the volcanic hot rocks in the area. 24 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27631-small-nugget-vacuum-cleaner-make-minelab-model-gpx6000/ Share on other sites
Mountaineer Matt
Some nice looking gold you have there. I'm anxiously waiting for the NF 12x7 to arrive in the mail and this makes me even more excited to get it. Any noticeably increase on depth for pieces smaller than 1g? Popular Post Dutchman4
These nuggets were all shallow. The 12x7 has very good depth on all nugget sizes less than 1g. It also will hear larger gold at depth as well but like any elliptical coil the best depth on larger/deeper gold is closer to the center of the coil where it is the widest. The other limitation is the outer 1/2" or so from the edge is not sensitive so you should overlap your sweeps a bit more since about 11 of the 12 inches is useable. I also found my biggest nugget so far, in my relatively short 3 year prospecting adventures, with this coil, a solid 19.6g nugget at around 14" deep. It was a very soft but repeatable change in threshold and I was sure it was going to be a piece of iron trash or a 22 casing when it started to scream as I was digging it. Quite a surprise when it turned out to be gold. I really like this coil and i think it is the perfect blend of ground coverage while still being extremely sensitive. BTW: I love your youtube videos 14 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27631-small-nugget-vacuum-cleaner-make-minelab-model-gpx6000/#findComment-290093 Share on other sites

I've heard some mixed reports about the edge sensitivity. The GPX 11" coil is able to hear small pieces horizontally from the edge of the coil. I'm hoping the NF can as well, but I'll probably be using the Goldhawk 10x5 for situations where that would be important. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad to hear you enjoy the videos and congrats on that monster nugget. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27631-small-nugget-vacuum-cleaner-make-minelab-model-gpx6000/#findComment-290096 Share on other sites
Detecting with CM
Good nugget. Was that nugget in a rich gold place? Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27631-small-nugget-vacuum-cleaner-make-minelab-model-gpx6000/#findComment-290097 Share on other sites
Detecting with CM
It might not look like there is much quartz in that nugget. I dont think there is any quartz in it being that it is quite heavy for its size. Some other more experienced folks that have seen and handled it commented that it appears to be of high purity. I'm glad to hear you enjoy the videos and congrats on that monster nugget. I used the stock 11 inch coil in the beginning and it is a very good coil although a bit noisy compared to the NF 12x7. One of the reasons I think I started to find more gold with the 12x7 is because I can stick it in tight places and under bushes where others have not bothered to place their coil. 4 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27631-small-nugget-vacuum-cleaner-make-minelab-model-gpx6000/#findComment-290107 Share on other sites

No, all by itself in an area not well known for producing gold.
