I would love to know how you made that.

I’m collecting fluorescent minerals.

Google  "diy wooden rings" and you will find many different ways of making them with/without a lathe or other equipment.

Just before Christmas, my daughter was playing her harp at a mall for a show. There happened to be a rock and gem show  there that one weekend, so I bought a bunch of variable samples and out of some wernerite I purchased, I made this wooden dark oak ring to give to my wife on Valentine's day.

That’s really nice! The oak ring in itself must be interesting also.  How did you cut the grove for the wernerite? Lathe?

I have natural flourspar rocks that I collected at a mine, would that also glow under a black light when crushed?

My rocks/samples do not glow very much under black light so maybe it is not the correct grade?

Hey Ceril, saw that you stumped everyone with your question!

I looked it up and found that it was a 365 nm longwave UV light that is recommended as it provides the best results for revealing the fluorescence in it.

I’ve been wanting to get a stronger light than the one we have to go looking for minerals like yooperlites. Have you ever seen one?

Hey Anthony,

No, never seen a yooperlite.
