Has anyone found a meteorite with an Axiom? I was curious if using a DD coil along with iron check could help?  It would be an interesting time saver to be able to use the iron check feature to help distinguish between lead and hot rocks versus meteorites with the right iron  content to set it off.

Edit: I just tested this with a couple meteorite samples I have, one iron and the other a L4 chondrite. It works well for the iron one but not reliably on my chondrite- the iron buzz was sporadic with it. This may be a useful tool in the Canyon Diablo iron meteorite areas but perhaps not as useful for the Gold Basin or Franconia areas - but I guess even if you did or did not get an iron disc buzz in those two gold producing areas, you should be digging it up anyways!

  • The title was changed to Axiom For Meteorite Hunting?

I’ve only used my Axiom for gold once as it’s brand new.  One could use a mono for hunting meteorites in the right places for it, but DD’s handle the ground better and are quieter on the Axiom, especially if one is in mineralized alkali areas or out on a playa (salty dry lake bed).

Well do as you please for sure.👍

However I've been recovering nuggets & Meteorites for 18 years and any "DD" coils That came with Detectors I owned over the years are "sitting" on the shelf in the garage, right where they were when I 1st put them there 👍😎🤠

I agree, I definitely use a mono when I’m looking for gold, but even with the GPX 6000, the mono does not work under powerlines so there are times when the double D’s are the only way to go. Now using an Axiom and am interested in trying out the DD with iron disc in some places, but I would also stick to a mono in the right places when looking for small gold as well, especially where that edge sensitivity is needed around rocks and under bushes. 👍
