News is getting around that Dave Watters has lost his ML dealership and will no longer be able to sell Minelab products. The Miners Den group were the largest sellers of Minelab product in Australia, bar none. They had shops in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Bendigo (where they originally started). Adelaide has closed already, not sure about the Sydney and Brisbane locations, if they have been divested of ownership or closed.

There is some suggestion that MD was a bit behind in payments to Minelab but this is pure speculation I suspect. But Dave and Co were the biggest promoters of Minelab product, with online advertising on social media, weekly internet TV show etc etc... It may suggest a big shift away from dealerships to maximize profits, if even Miners Den is being shoved aside. A warning to all dealers I think.

MD is going to continue, with Nokta being a major player. I imagine that Algoforce and Garrett should be talking as well.

Investor reports for some time have pointed to moving onto direct sales and big box stores with less focus on dealers.

I see they've put their Youtube/Facebook TV Show on hold for now.  It is called the Minelab show, I wonder if that will remain its name if the above is correct, they've also said they're not closing the Melbourne and Bendigo stores but the others are all gone, including Adelaide, that's from their websites store finder.

Regarding their Video show

"Sorry for the radio silence folks!

Big changes are afoot at Miners Den and as a result, we need to put the show on hiatus for a little bit while we get things organized. We look forward to returning as soon as we are able, with a new look show so stay tuned and watch this space!"

Seems like Minelab is going the wrong direction with this one, any dealer that provides their experience and expertise to the community is promoting their sales.
Direct sales and big block stores are just a place to purchase and then it’s all up to the utube channels for support and training.

Hopefully they will change their mentality especially if their profits do not have a huge rise.

I think this says it all, they're still selling Minelab "for the moment" likely meaning the stock already in store.

Odd, as I thought they were a ML only dealer so nothing to do with selling Nokta or Algoforce.

That's the big change they're talking about I guess, they should take on Garrett too, especially now with the reduced Axiom pricing, and hopefully it can come down further yet in OZ like it has in the US, it's virtually Algoforce pricing there by the time you add a coil and battery to the Algoforce and that's a damn cheap PI.  I truly hope Nokta end up making an awesome PI too.

I don't know how much this stuff will come back to bite Minelab, all these dealers that were their marketing team basically moving onto selling and promoting other brands.

It appeared to me Miners Den were the biggest dealer in OZ, and with smaller ones also now being dumped they're losing a lot of exposure and retail opportunity.
