No, I've watched portions of two episodes on YouTube and skipped most of it, they do seem to get hundreds of viewers an episode though so it's working for them. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27765-miners-den-group-in-australia-have-lost-their-minelab-dealership/page/6/#findComment-291495 Share on other sites
phrunt
Here we go No dealer is safe, ML going direct with their own website, only a matter of time. Sucks to be an exclusive Minelab dealer. I love how later in the video they put a White sticker over their ML logo on their shirts and wrote Nokta on it 🙂 Minelab's loss is Nokta and Algoforces gain I think they should take on Garrett too, the Axiom's really becoming competitively priced in Australia, the more brands the better when it's now a multi-line dealer. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27765-miners-den-group-in-australia-have-lost-their-minelab-dealership/page/6/#findComment-291548 Share on other sites
GotAU?
I don’t think switching to 100% E-Commerce will increase sales for Minelab. There are many of us who would prefer to deal with a real person, and with this may go all the other personal perks one receives by working with a real dealer. I purchased all my detectors this way, and even though a few were over the phone and drop-shipped, I still received a lot of personal help through emails and follow-up phone calls. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27765-miners-den-group-in-australia-have-lost-their-minelab-dealership/page/6/#findComment-291550 Share on other sites

What? Because Dave says it, then it’s happening? Because it can be read/seen on the internet, then it has to be true? 🤔 Why are we worried? Because that kind of marketing model is being used in the US it’s now going to happen in Australia and it’s now all to the panic stations while we wait for skyfall? Coiltek went to online sales ages ago and it created a bit of a ruckus here in Australia, from memory Miners Den chucked a fit over it and refused to stock CT coils for a time. The reality is it hasn’t affected my sales one iota, we still sell plenty of CT coils (when we can get them) and we are in an area that tends to be more Nuggetfinder centric due to our nasty variable soils and the NF coils handling the ground a bit better (they cost more though). It’s pretty obvious the guy is shocked to his core and wants to fight for what he considers to be an injustice, I know I sure would. What we aren’t seeing and likely won’t ever see or read about are the interactions that happen behind the scenes and over time leading up to things like this. All conjecture on my part, but you have to admit he’s larger than life and that’s on camera. 😊 I don't get all this multi-line dealer malarkey, I can take on a Garrett, Nokta or Algo product line anytime I like, there’s NO restrictions on my business to stock other brands of detectors. I choose not to stock them because the goldfields where my business is situated in is not suited to those products and I can’t in good faith sell them to customers knowing full well they are pushing a cart with a wonky wheel loaded with horse manure uphill on a sweaty day, for that same reason I also do not like selling GoldMonsters either, but I’m fortunate because my business has low overheads and low running costs so I can still make a living with the loss of those sales, I’m not in judgement of dealers pushing products not ideally suited to the conditions so long as they are upfront about it in their sales pitch and don’t snake-oil the products they’re selling. I’ve toyed with the idea of Algo because of its price point, it’s not that much more expensive than a GM nor that much different in ergonomics and weight etc. I’m pretty sure this is why it’s selling reasonably well in Australia, especially in Victoria where they have a bigger population of hobbiest and larger areas of detectable ground with lots of small shallow gold that are not too heavily mineralised (look at all the YouTube and FB videos of people using them successfully and it’s always pale soils), if the Axiom was priced similarly it would be selling just as well because in my option it is a much better machine. Yep I’m defending the BIG BAD WOLF yet again, or am I? There are always two sides to any story and wise men always take into consideration the news they receive with this in mind. I’m far from being a wise man but I do know a thing or two about this industry and what goes on here in Austrlia, I’m a bit of a dinosaur in that regard. 4 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27765-miners-den-group-in-australia-have-lost-their-minelab-dealership/page/6/#findComment-291562 Share on other sites
