You might have to think twice before heading back to Montana with the success you have had down there, Reese.

Although you have proven your ability up here too.

If you can get over "aint using no commie coil". There is really only one choice. Ask anyone who uses one.

And what is that coil, Reg?

I would say at a guess the Russian made X coils. They are very good, but if you have a problem with them & have never tried one then I guess you will never know what you have left behind.

You're doing very well down this this winter and in fact better than I can recall the last few.  What do you think has been the reasoning for this years extra Success?  Is it a different location, more knowledge on the detector, more time in the field or just crazy luck?  Either way, you're shining.

Gerry, I'm  not sure. Quad broke down so I was forced to reevaluate the small area I was able to hunt and had to prepare my mind for a lot of skunk days, found the 5.75 oz specie, then the 5.2 oz nugget. These finds got me into a brand new quad. Now I am back to traveling up to 25 Miles from camp on my quad in search for gold. Persistence, patience and the belief that at any moment any given day the detector is going to sound off and it will be my fortunate day. The other thing is I'm  hunting primarily with my 5000 and the 19" Evo and refuse to take the coil off. I know there is good, big gold left here and you have to be able to reach deeper. I take far more skunk days with this set up but I know when I hit something,  it will be worth all the days of getting  skunked. I also now know what those deep nuggets sound like. I'm  looking forward to getting  my second 5000 and getting it molded by Mick.

I won't  use a concentric coil for gold hunting. If you have never used a 19"Evo, then you don't  know what you are missing. This thing is smooth and stable and is pretty easy to pinpoint with. My new motto is more real-estate per swing and go big or go home.

I don't think you can get concentrics for a PI detector ie, your 5000. It works on the GPZ 7000.

I do like your moto though.
