This one I have now is staying stock until I fully understand the modded one and consistently pulling gold out with it. Then I'll send it off to be modded. Roughwater Posted March 4 Share Posted March 4 Thanks Goldseeker, I’m considering getting a used 5000 and having it modified or Modded. I had a 5000 years back but had sold it. I also had a 16” mono nugget finder coil I sold to a guy In Tennessee. He used the coil to find civil war relics. He said it went amazingly deep! He found a lot of Minnie balls but he said it went even deeper on buttons! He was super happy with that coil. I was thinking to get a I9” Nugget Finder like yours since you do so well with it but may get another 16 instead. I’m still debating with myself on that decision. Roughwater Posted March 5 Share Posted March 5 Since I talked to you Goldseeker, I saw that Ron who advertises on here was selling a modded 5000. So I called him on the phone and ultimately he made me a great deal on a moded 5000. It comes with grey ghost headphones and a small DD coil. I also wanted a 14x9 Nugget Finder Evo coil so that was Dayton my purchase. I want to get a larger NF evo coil later. Since I’m on this thread you can probably guess which one that might be? 🤔 Ron was the most helpful and patient salesperson I believe I ever talked to. I can’t afford to buy any detector I want so was I was nervous about spending what seems like a lot of money to me but I feel like I got a machine and coil selection that’s about as good as it gets especially for the money. I had been watching the detectormod guy a lot on YouTube demonstrating his modded 5000 and its ability on small gold was really impressive for a Pi detector! I believe it’s no slouch on large gold as well. So I will be anxious to try it out! Of course this video played a role on closing the deal as well. Roughwater Posted March 5 Share Posted March 5 Ron Suggested there is a learning curve. Something about adjusting the frequency depending on the target size or something to that effect. I know it probably won’t be a cakewalk but I look forward to the challenge.
