I can buy a new one from Reeds.....same price (from memory) from when they last launched them some years ago.

$3500 Aussie dollars / $2200 US dollars.

Interesting timing me thinks.

No idea if they are NOS or a recent manufacture ?

Anyhow, this highlights what Minelab can do anytime they like....especially relaunch older legacy detectors (which are still awesome BTW)......reminds me of the SD2100V2 and SD2200V2.

Hopefully they didn't find another container load of stolen 4500's......my guess is they will have that new car smell and fresh off the production line.

I found a lot of gold with the 4500. That is a fantastic detector.

Agree completely.......and it is the only detector that I regretted selling some years ago.

Maybe my GP3500 needs a bigger brother but I'm not sure as I used to run the 4500 like the 3500 (Normal/Sharp timings) whenever possible.

I think Minelab should have followed the Algoforce style of deleting coils and battery (as an option).

Have a barebones GPX4500 control box only and skip the battery and 3 coils.....priced at $2500 Aussie dollars (or less 🙂)

Most of us have legacy coils, batteries and shafts. If you're a newbie then go all in for $3500 and get the lot.

I need to go and hide the Mastercard.......

  • The title was changed to Minelab GPX 4500 Is Back?

Sources say it’s a temporary clearance of found stock, not a return to production. They were discontinued in 2021 and if this is found stock as is being said they would be several years old. Still waiting to hear from our dealer members if it’s even available here, and at what price if so. If it is as appears a small stock found in a back room they may not bother with shipping to U.S.

What timing, since I am in the market for a good to excellent condition, used 4500 at the moment but not willing to pay more than $1600 for detector plus stock coils or no coils.

I haven’t heard anything about this yet in the U.S….

Last year a similar event took place in the U.S. for the 5000 as Minelab had a small amount of them that they were offering up and they went fast with nothing more to follow. I ended up buying a batch of them because they are still in demand to this day.

I would like to be able to buy these GPX-4500’s here again, I believe in December of 2020 they were not available anymore in the U.S. or that’s the last time dealers could get ahold of them.

Kinda weird they could just "find some" after so much time.

Their latest investor report said something that wasn't entirely true, the 4500 being sold again helps with that a bit as a stop gap until they get something to market though.

FAVOURABLE MARKET FUNDAMENTALS: • Emerging awareness of recreational metal detection • Shift in consumer preference towards direct-to-consumer and eCommerce channels • Continued geographic expansion – new and emerging markets (e.g., India) MINELAB’S COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE: • Technological leadership • Enhanced discrimination • More depth • Ease of use • Creating demand and new markets • Product range across all price points • Scale – Minelab is the largest hand-held metal detection company in the world
