Done by Paul in West Virginia. Straight shaft with no more fishing to connect inside the lower rod. Battery pod on the outside. I love this setup.

Nice mod for the Explorer machine, very easy to get the Explorer under 3lbs. Swinging the original Explorer was miserable to swing for me it had wobble and horrible design. Thanks for sharing I’ve got several Explorers and eventually will get them all modded similar to yours. Here’s one I’m working on now. Put headphones and coil jack into the back of case. Using rechargeable LiPo batteries

I finally got two of my explorers modded. The Explorer XS with pro coil is on a S-rod and I have been running it for a week or so. Wow, it swings so good and handles like a modern unit. Its hard to believe the explorers had such a following as bad as the ergonomics was. The Explorer II is on Steve’s rod and swings just as nice too. Both units weigh 3.2 lbs like they are now. I can swing these as long as needed with no issues. I’m running a  11.1V 80C 3S 650mAh Lipo Battery. Im getting about 4hrs run time on a full battery, I keep several batteries charged up ready to go. Put a smaller coil on either unit and you have a unit that is as light and swings as well as most any modern unit. Next unit that’s getting cut up for weight is the CTX. I’ve got another one and it’s getting chopped. I love the FBS for certain reasons, but I’m not ready for another hip replacement.
