Tony
I will preface this post by saying I know nothing about the 7000 but the results of this video seem disappointing. Have the detector settings been dumbed down too much or are they "reasonable" in order to get a nice threshold. The settings are posted within the video. Thanks for any views on this one. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/ Share on other sites
madtuna
My only comment is I got to about the 30 second mark, recognised who made the video and switched it off. 4 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/#findComment-292083 Share on other sites

Okay, good to hear. 5/20 Sensitivity seems very low to me. araratgold
Rank amateur would be my take on it. Sensitivity of only 5, WTF ? 🙄 Rick 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/#findComment-292085 Share on other sites
Tony
I don't have a problem with his testing methodology (thumbs up to hole he drilled) but why dumb a detector down so badly even if it is for comparing two coils. TE Gold
4.5 gram nugget at 8" in normal? I have found smaller in difficult much deeper. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/#findComment-292094 Share on other sites
Reg Wilson
I did a lot of testing back in the day when we were promised a 19" coil after the introduction of The 7000. How many of you remember the hype when we were promised a 19" coil that would be lighter than the 14" and would give a big advantage over the standard 14" on depth? And what did we eventually get? I remember when I got the box. What on earth have we got in here besides the coil I wondered, feeling the weight of the package? The answer was... the coil, nothing else.... that was what the bugger weighed. So, after serious testing where the graphs ran depressingly similar is was obvious that the 5" extra coil size was providing sod all depth advantage for the arm breaking weight. If it was not a 'dog coil' why are they advertised for sale widely as 'very little use' for less than half new price when Xcoils hold their value? 3 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/#findComment-292095 Share on other sites
phrunt
5 sensitivity is a bit weird but something is seriously wrong there, I can find sub grammers deeper than that with a smaller coil. You're right Reg, people are buying 19" coils as low as $400 to turn into X-coils adapters, often $600 to $800 seems the norm. If they were popular and doing well for people, they wouldn't be these prices. I have two of them, both chopped as they're the cheapest way to get an adapter. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/#findComment-292124 Share on other sites
