I think there is more to it, something is wrong beyond sensitivity, I run on 18 to 20/HY/Normal in my ground so I see the best of the GPZ but still, the performance in that video was terrible. This is 20 sensitivity, nice and smooth for me I think. The GPZ is one detector they could have followed the more recent trend of allowing REDLINE sensitivity settings like the Axiom and Manticore have, it could have easily gone up to 25 to 30. On a downhill slope, the bedrock dropped off and the little nugget was under where the bedrock drops. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/page/2/#findComment-292127 Share on other sites

That is a seriously small bit of gold for a seriously larger coil & that is seriously impressive. It appeared to be down a little too & not on/near the surface. How could anybody not be impressed by that? Having said that though, we here in New Zealand are blessed with very mild ground & able to run in the high end sensitivity levels. Many others aren't so lucky. Don't let Reg see/hear you call that a nugget. 😉 What is the weight of that coil compared to the standard ML 14x13 for the 7000? I’ve heard about problems with the rear control box. Don't let Reg see/hear you call that a nugget. 😉 What is the weight of that coil compared to the standard ML 14x13 for the 7000? It weighs 1543 grams with the lower shaft fitted, I'm too lazy to take it off but I believe it's about 1400 grams. I can't remember the 14x13" weight but its similar. I've never been one to concern myself with a few grams here or there. It picked up that bit of gold pretty easily, I absolutely did a mess of a hole though using such a big coil on such a small bit of gold, especially as the gold was tucked up under the bedrock so I wasn't able to get it to move, and too small for a pinpointer to pick up, I'm not used to using big coils 🙂 I noticed you also run 18 to 20 sensitivity, I find 20 runs great most of the time but can pick up a bit of powerline EMI more so than 18, so I sometimes drop down a bit, also the Avantree transmitter I'm using has to be placed in exactly the right spot in my DD leather cover for it not to interfere with the detector, if it's in the wrong spot I get pulsing in the audio when on 20 sensitivity that is far less obvious at 18. I expect if there is a new GPZ they will move onto Bluetooth LE like they have the Manticore, problem with that is they've learnt how to lock that down to their own headphones now after having the Nox and 6000 unlocked the Manticore is locked down so the GPZ 8000 will likely be too getting rid of one of the big benefits to Bluetooth, using whatever you want for your speakers/headphones. As for GPZ faults, I don't see many report that, the main one is the screen failing, it's a reliable workhorse, it's the 6000 that's the lemon although that's improved a lot by the looks of it. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/page/2/#findComment-292150 Share on other sites

I could rarely use Normal with the 7000 due to ground conditions but I think even at low sensitivity Normal can give you an edge over Difficult. I actually found High Yield/Difficult to not be that great of an option. I did also run no smoothing. Ended up running a lot more in General/Difficult as per a suggestion from @Jonathan Porter and found it far better on the bigger pieces (5 gram plus) but also still pretty good on the small stuff 👍 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27851-gpz-7000-performance-underwhelming/page/2/#findComment-292158 Share on other sites
