Has anyone used one of these plastic directional funnels to try and make the SDC speaker louder? Does it work well?

Speaker placement always seems a problem on detectors, like the 6000 having it right at the back, when you're down on your knees with the scoop in front of the detector at the coil you struggle to hear the tiny targets.

I've read the SDC is also troublesome having the speaker at the side and as I'm a speaker user more often than not this may pose a problem for me. I'll probably end up using the SP01 audio enhancer on it if necessary, I've read that's the best combination for audio for it, so any audio advice for it would be appreciated but it's likely to be creek detecting where waterproofing is required but not being used underwater except for the shaft and the occasional drop.

This particular one is from Try Hard Prospecting in Oz, but I believe there have been a few attempts over the years.

The SDC has intrigued me and now with the Algoforce out it's commonly compared against I figured I'd like to try one out and see how it does compare to the Algo so I've got one on the way now.  I don't like commenting on stuff I don't own.

Worst case I'll just use it as a creek detector seeing I can get it wet and I haven't wanted to use my GPZ, 6000 or Algo in creeks as they will get dropped eventually like my GM 1000 did (after drying it out for a few days it came to life)

The other thing, is the 10x5" Coiltek worth buying? I like it on every other detector I own so figured it might be worth it? Pro and Cons would be appreciated if anyones tried it out.  I'm not interested in the bigger sizes.

Have used the Pro Sonic on our 2300, did not try the SP01 B4 we sold it. SWMBO'ed did well in WA, with the standard speaker ( with good hearing) B4 she moved to the 6000.

Not sure about the 10x5, we found gold in a patch in WA using a 2300 standard coil and 4500's that had been chained by a 2300 10x5 owner and his mate and they were good enough to point out the location to us, since they had cleaned it out. But the area had bushes and logs so would be easy to miss some signals

U need the Knuckle protector.

Neither of the two ML dealers in NZ have knuckle protectors as items you can buy, so I just bought a Chinese one for a fraction of the cost of getting the little bit of plastic from Australia.  My SDC will arrive Monday.

This package was less than half the price of getting just the knuckle protectors from Australia so I got two of it. If they don't make stuff available to buy, people will look elsewhere, especially when it's just some plastic that really makes no difference.  It's frustrating sometimes being in a small market.

That 10x5 really made a difference on my 2300.  Very sensitive and much better than the stock coil which would always end up turning sideways.  Made the 2300 kind of pleasant to swing!

Nothing makes the SDC pleasant to swing. Nothing short of a whole repackage into a more ergonomic unit.
