The PI market is now full of sub $3K detectors (Algo E1500, Garrett Axiom) so I would anticipate that Nokta plan to undercut or match these options. Taking a swipe at Minelab's pricing regime is an easy target to hit.

But if you read Dileks response closely, you will see where she says Noktas machine really cant be compared to the "lower priced" pi's, that it is to be compared to the high end pi's. Telling me they are merely competing with Minelabs $7000 and $6000 machines so $4999 is my expectation.

I would hope they learnt from Garrett's mistake, you can't go into a market dominated by one brand for decades even if your products competitive to a degree and charge a similar price or just slightly cheaper and think you'll have success, perhaps very slowly you'll gain traction but it's not the way to build a customer base and gain popularity.

Garrett found this out and dropped their pricing in various ways to get it where it should have been from the start and it would have sold far better then, now people see it as it struggled and they've had to massively decrease pricing which isn't a good look compared to just coming out at the right price in the first place.

Nokta needs to come out as a good value option as well as be competitive with performance with the detector they feel they're capable of going up against and that's been hinted at the top.  They've said exactly that is their plan, "We will redefine affordability and performance for you to break free from the grip of overpriced alternatives."

What I get out of that is they have picked their target model; they're going to be competitive in performance of that model but give far more features (easy to do if it's the model I'm thinking when it comes to features) and they're going to come in significantly cheaper than it.   The 6000 is my guess and it's limited by its timings compared to the older 5000, Nokta throw everything they've got at their machines, theirs won't have software-imposed limitations to keep us buying other models also, they want us buying their model.

Nokta are not only good at making detectors, they're also very smart when it comes to helping their business grow rapidly, gaining a large customer base quickly and they know what they need to do to achieve this, look at the Legend release and the price point it started out at, to me it's very clear what their plan is and it's fantastic.  I won't shed a tear if i have to get rid of my poor build quality 6000 to upgrade to a Nokta, it's always in the back of my mind when it's going to fail next and how.  This anxiety isn't something you should have with such a high-priced product although I've mitigated some risk changing to aftermarket coils.  JW's had a new failure the other day, his coil now spins around on the lower shaft, the "clevis" as SteveG calls it where the mount is attached to the shaft spins freely inside the lower shaft.  It doesn't look like it's easy to get the mount out of the shaft either, it won't just pull out even though it spins around in there, he's going to have to try and glue it somehow.  I personally would just get one of SteveG's fibreglass lower shafts and get rid of that reactive lower anyway, at least then the repair is an upgrade.

I truly hope Nokta gets it right and becomes a dominant player in the PI market, it will speed up Minelab's timeline for releases too which will help those that want to hang around with that brand.

Yeah I've been thinking it'll be in that ballpark figure.

They're not gonna want to hurt their other lower range vlf detectors so it has to be much higher than them. Otherwise they'll canibalise themselves. I was thinking between $4000 and $5000 Aussie. We'll see, all just hopeful speculation for now until the rubber bits the tarmac.

True, I should have tempered my optimism lol. It will all depend on its ability in the field. If its up to the 6000's performance, then it could be a price well North of $3K. Maybe anticipate a 50% pricing point? Half of what ML would charge lol

I'm looking forward to it coming out. Waterproof quality PI. I read somewhere here where you knew guys getting the Axiom Lite. What's the performance of those say compared to a 5000 with a coiltek or evo 12" spiral wind? Weighing up my options.

Cheers.

New to the herd, curiosity got the best of me, next to my Agloforce E1500 Plus.  Just working on a suitable PVC pipe arm cuff and speaker horn for it at the moment to fix up some inadequacies.

Leaving in the UK and not in really need of a GOLD PI(i do have Eric Foster beast).I would buy one just to give a go.

Maybe Nokta has a smart approach of filling the gap between the absolute beginner and the pro their range is huge cover most of the need of the prospector and has a very good price point.

As i said i may be tempted to learn on a budget(Used GPX here sell for £2000 minimum)
