In its day that was a very formidable detector.  What coil(s) did you get with it, George?

I almost owned one many years ago.  Short story: my mother went with me to buy my next metal detector in the 1980's.  We went to a store called Earth's Treasures in Mansfield, Ohio.  I was set on the Fisher.  The owner of the store, Dick Noel, asked me to consider another detector before I bought the Fisher.  Something called a Minelab Sovereign XS.  He demonstrated the two detectors for me and my mom, showing how each identified good and bad targets. I asked my mom what she thought and she said very succinctly "Buy the Minelab."

Mom's know best. To this day that XS (which I sold but replaced thanks to you, George) was the biggest game changer I've ever owned.

With that being said, I've always been curious about how I would have done with that Fisher.  Let me know how you do with yours.

Just the stock eight. But I do have a puck for the detector.

It did very well on land. Bought years ago, at a local flea market. 100 bucks.

So i see have been corrected.  Well it was a long time ago, fair enough?  Shoot, I can't remember what I had for lunch today!   Now I'm going to have to find the receipt just for fun.  I started with a Coinmaster 3TR in 1972, then got a Fisher 1220X, followed by a White's Coinmaster 3 and then the Sovereign XS.  That timeline would have me arrive at around 1994 or so I'll bet.  Thanks for catching that.  George sold me his XS and I treasure it since I sold mine to move up to an Excalibur.  It was, and still is a great detector.
