Popular Post Bill (S. CA)
I was in my garage last week looking to charge up one of my detectors to hunt with this past weekend when my eyes fell upon my Legend. All dust, off in a corner. After Update #475 (just kidding) i had set it aside, having been burnt out on the number of updates and the menu system. Feeling a bit guilty, I took the Legend out and charged it up. Jeff McClendon had given me some settings to try so I decided what the heck, why not? I gritted my teeth and fumbled my way through the menus, whining all the way, but got it set up. Well my weekend plans fell apart with work on Saturday and rain was predicted for Sunday. Oh well, I thought, no big deal. Then I got up Sunday and the rain was delayed! Yahoo! I grabbed the Legend and drove over to a park me and several buddies have been hunting recently. We have all done well, pulling some old silver and a ton of clad as well as one gold ring (not me). I turned on the Legend and started off digging everything to relearn the TID's. Relatively easy except steel bottlecaps were making me crazy; I need to learn them better. After about an hour and a half of digging trash and some clad I got a 27 on the Legend. It was relatively solid. I figured a tab most likely but it sounded a little different. So I dug it. About 3" down I saw the outline of a gold-colored heart of some sort. I tried to remove it but it was attached to a chain that was running horizontally away from the plug. After about 5 minutes of careful digging I was able to remove the heart and chain. It was a necklace and looked to be pretty old. It was very yellow and I initially was worried that it was fake. I took the necklace over to my buddy and he felt the weight and immediately said it felt like gold. He was right. When I got home it tested for 18K! 14.4 grams! My best land find ever. I think the Legend and I need to spend some more time together, don't you? Bill (S. JCR
That is very nice. Especially the chain. Most(some are stubborn) bottle caps should not be a real problem running in Multi with BC reject around 3. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27891-my-neglected-legend/#findComment-292522 Share on other sites

The black Corona's wouldn't break up until 5 and there were a ton of them, all reading 53. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/27891-my-neglected-legend/#findComment-292579 Share on other sites
