Just had an SMS from a mate about further goldfields testing on his modded 5000... All good.

He however mentioned something that I did not want to hear.. ie  had problems in the Special mode with his 9 inch elite. I hope that does not apply to my 18 inch Elite Camo coil ( New never hit the dirt). If you have this coil on your modded 5 appreciate your comments.

Guess they aren't the rocket scientists that people think they are. Look at X coils & the egg they splattered on ML's face.

Depends on the 'problem'. If its a GB issue (cannot ground balance), that also something I dont wanna hear.

I have 2 Micks modded machines, the question on the 18”elite my does well with the mods ,not quite as good as the NF 19”. The 9”. 14” elite you can run them with the mods but you but you can’t push the inputs too high. You will lose sensitivity. And they eventually will go silent. All coils will work but some just don’t have that “edge”.Some coils even of the same brand, you can get more performance.I have 2 ,12x8 NF and there is noticeable difference. The one coil that you can get a “baseline for performance is MKII.” That coil was designed for the mods and it shines. You can put a ton of inputs in and get visible results with every increase. But it has the ground coverage of a hockey puck.I believe it will be quite a journey with these mods if there are a full line of NF MK coils developed. The improvements between a stock Sadie and the MKII are outstanding.

We’ve really got to help stop JP from spelling his coffee in the mornings.

Once Minelab and JP gets us the 8000 top tech. Info out here on DP and also on there low-end PI competition killer coming out to market hopefully also soon then all we’ll be calm here on DP again.

I'm getting more out of the comments than I am out of the video, another of Micks comments about modidng a GPX 6000 and what can be done with it, and this was his explanation of why it's a fail with larger coils and depth on bigger deeper gold.

Not all that much unfortunately, well not until someone is willing to donate one to the cause, preferably a dead one so I can get inside that black receiver module. That is where there is real potential for improving that detector. Its a pity they also took away the ability to control the operating frequency for the timings. If that had not been tied up in the micro-controller there would have been a really good chance to get it working with larger coils and get good depth on bigger gold. Perhaps Minelab might be nice and make a Deep mode for larger coils.. In the next model of course 😉

And this comment

FYI, my current work backlog is about 6 months. I didn't post this video because I need more work, I posted it to set the precedent as to how the level 4 modified 5000 actually works, on the ground as somebody else who mods detectors now has one of my machines and is attempting to make a mockery of it. Anybody who wants to come an independently verify with their own detector and even video it, you are more than welcome to. No digging up the targets though!

Mick’s Comment!

Sounds like the 5000 will be the last detector model that can be adjusted by outside parties glad the 4500 are back in now for keeping this aftermarket stuff going a little longer.
