Hi GR, Like my mate in South Oz, he's going great with his Modded 5000, now his 6 with an extra coil is for Sale.

Are you doing Likewise.

I think mate should keep the 6 as a backup detector, and as a detector to use when he gets a pain in the back from using the 5k.

No I will keep my six. I have a dig and detect mining claim here in Montana with Goldseeker5000.  Its a perfect machine for using in the holes.   The 5000 is not bad to swing at all now.  I run a 7000 swing arm and a bungee clipped to a d ring.  It makes it really easy actually. Im also not wire tethered into the machine now. I went the wireless transmitter and short power cord route.  So the whole thing is pretty workable.

Re ( I went the wireless transmitter and short power cord route.)

I have the Pro Sonic Transmitter with the Speaker on my Shoulder. Have the light weight battery that can be fitted into the control box cover, to get rid of the power cable, but am not interested in the extra weight and the cover with the battery pocket is set up for a right handed operator and I mainly hold the detector in my left hand so battery would get in the way of my swing. Carry the long handle pick over my right shoulder and dig/scrap one hand, right handed.

If Right Handed have you considered a small battery on the control box cover, to get rid of the power cable?

( The again, I got Nenad of Phase Technical order  a left hand cover/zip pocket for my 7000 ( Ferris Ring) and from memory ditto for the 6, so a left hand battery control box cover could also be ordered, if required)

Another banger day with the modded 5000 on absolutely beat to death ground. All but 1, 8-14" deep.   This thing is turning into a game changer.  Cant wait to get into the high country when the snow melts.

Hi GR Re (Another banger day with the modded 5000 on absolutely beat to death ground.)

If you could stop Banging on about Mick's 5000 Mod, at least until my 5k is modded, its just putting him under more pressure re enquires for others to get their 5000 modded.

GR, Which frequency and coil are you using?

Im using a 15" spoked evo.  Frequency +3. The toggle switch on specie/small. Running fine gold on timing.  Pushing the TX to 4 oclock or higher if I can. But 3 oclock runs real quiet and smooth. All these targets where well defined at the surface. I took the grass and rock layer off about 2-3" and they screamed. I tried running standard and -1 in Arizona and got spanked. I guess Micks idea of big gold in Australia and my "big" gold are two different things. 🤣

Try running a large (16"+) non spiral mono coil. You might find you can wind the gain up and reach deeper targets. Then again, any ground noise you may get there in Montana is 'Mild' compared to our soils here in Australia. But, if ya got the coils to try, give em a go

Ive got a 20" advantage that is sitting gathering dust.  It was a really nice smooth running coil when the 5  was just a 5.  Maybe I will give it a go.
