Nice one. That 5" width could sure prove handy in amongst the thick scrub

I do believe it was just a copy of X-coils.

Did X-Coils make a block-wound coil??? I musta missed that....

There are so many names for these things, do you mean Semi spiral?

Multi layer spiral, forming a block, instead of being completely flat nor a bundle. Rectangular block is probably the best way to visually describe it

Yep, that's the 12x6" Hybrid X-coil from years ago for the GPX 4500/5000.  I have one, the only way they could get spiral windings into such a small width coil.   They also did a 10x6" that way.  They made a 10" fully spiral wound using a different trick, I'm wondering if that's in the new Coiltek 9".

It's pretty obvious manufacturers all dissect each other's coils and see what they can learn from them, once one does something the others are sure to follow at some point 🙂

I'm sure X-coils don't care at all, they don't make them anymore, I'm glad as now they're easy to buy from various brands and each add their own techniques into it to make them their own.

OK, that makes sense why Rohan didnt patent it, even though he could have (prior IP) ....but risked legal action if the Russians decided to pursue it. Still, that makes it a possibility for everyone now.

If someone copies the design and makes it better or releases a range of sizes or whatever that works great for us end users 🙂 To them it's just an old discontinued product line, the 12x6" was pretty popular at the time especially with the QED users, I prefer my 10" Spiral but the 9" Coiltek could potentially be very good if its similar.  I'm going to struggle to decide on which to get out of the 9" or 10x5" of the Coiltek's.

I going 10x5” as first choice as that’s the best seller bar none on the Goldhawk 6000 series, so guessing it’s will be similar in performance with the Elite-Max series.

Great in tight spots with a little more sensitivity on the smaller bits.
