Data:

Andreas Meyer, aka Andy, NM

From 1965, detecting since over 30 years

German with 10 years in New Mexico (Holloman AFB 1996 to 2000 and 2002 to 2008).

Technican in the German Air Force from 1985 to 2020.

Retired military now.

I started selling FTP brand detectors in 2008 and became the Master Distributor for their brands 2023 for the EU.

Brands: Teknetics, Fisher, Bounty Hunter.

I have used them all...Tesoro, C-Scope, Minelab, Troy, Garrett, Nokta, XP, Whites and many others.

A collection of metal detectors is in my basement. Whites XLT, DFX, Troy X3, Tesoro Silver umax to name some older units next to Manticore, XTerra Pro, Equinox 700, T2 LTD and F75 LTD and Teknetics G2+.

Most of the time I use the Teknetics T2, because we just work great together.

G2+ is my second love, because it is so stable until it hits a target. Agressive on smallest coins.

Hope to share some information with you.

Welcome to the forum Andy! I might have met you at Orogrande, between Alamogordo and El Paso. Met some Germans there on a 4wheeler years ago.

Hi Andy,

Long time no talk to, seems you disappeared from the scene for a while. I'm happy to hear you have not gone to the big detecting field in the sky like half of us old farts! Welcome to the forum.

Hello Steve,

well... I fought cancer years ago and survived. Great to see you and many other hunters I have seen already more than 20 years ago. Also saw Dan from NM is still around.

The passion for metal detectors never dropped. I'm pretty busy selling FTP detectors and wonder about the fact that all the FTP "classic" units still sell well in Europe.

We "old" hunter should all meet at an event somewhere. Coolest hobby in the world.

I hope you are doing fine too.

I’m glad the Big C did not get you. When we were kids it was a death sentence, these days treatable in most cases. One of the benefits of getting old now is they keep figuring ways to keep us running. 100 years ago I’d be deaf and blind with no teeth sitting in a rocking chair on the porch. Still going strong though thanks to modern miracles like artificial hips. So nope, no complaints here!
