Yes it appears MLs reaction to the introduction of the Elgoforce has been a wee overcooked, from this thread I suspect its excellent Ground Balance ability maybe what has caused their adverse reaction. I did note that over the gold season I used the Axiom it too has excellent GB that covers a wide range of mineralisation. Would be of interest to see the GPZ7000`s GB performance over that black sand test bed.

The vet wrap on the manticore is something I used on my old goldbug ll for scratch prevention😀

I wish I had used something on my Manti because it got scratched on the screen just from being in the car in the first two weeks!

One detector never fits all needs. It is the right detector for the right situation that will bring you the gold. Are there situations where the 6000 struggles with the ground? Of course there are. Is it therefore an inferior detector overall? Of course not. With all the criticism of having too few options the 6000 is an  incredible and sophisticated machine that finds gold in many situations, more so than others. I venture to say that the black sand example is an extreme case, and for these cases having a detector like the Algo on hand that can produce is a blessing. Just like having a good VLF like the Manticore on hand for trashy ground. Only because the 6000 and 7000 are less useful where discrimination is needed doesn't make them less good detectors, right? Too much black and white thinking here IMO. It is the right machine for the right job what matters. And the 6000 and 7000 are just right for me in most cases (but not all). And I also don't believe that anyone here seriously believes that there is a detector out there that beats both the 6000 and 7000 in overall performance, across a wide variety of grounds and circumstances. Even at these high price points both detectors have paid comfortably for themselves, at least for me.

GC good to see you picking up on the 6000 as it is a remarkable machine, Blues the past/current colour for me too, but another downunder Algoforce has superior GB tech that may challenge MLs supremacy in the future. Ahhhh imagine zero ground noise with maximum sensitivity and depth, our Holy Grail, it is slowly coming.

I'd never even heard of a black sand beach until Phrunt posted it.

I'm just sad that I'll never get to build a black sandcastle

That would be the holy grail indeed, Norvic! Perhaps forever an illusion, but who knows perhaps with the raising gold price more and more companies will go into serious engineering. When I look at detectors I strictly look at performance, not what company makes it. So, coming back to the black sand example, kudos to Algo for clearly having a superior performance in these unusual circumstances where the big guys fall short. This is reason enough for me to get one. The bigger my toolbox the better. I am eager to test it in the magnetite laden vulcanic basalt grounds where my compas keeps spinning around. No chance for any of my detectors there thus far..🤠

Whoops Algoforce not Elgoforce.... Aged moment.... Yeah is all about "weight in the pocket" to most users I suspect, no discrimination...  🙃 well maybe even that after GB has been eliminated.......

Just a reminder that ad hominem attacks are not welcome on this forum.

Steve, I enjoy seeing/learning from other DP members sharing detector Strength/Weakness.  I also take some input and comments with a grain of Salt.

Now you toss some interesting words on the thread "ad hominem attacks" and my mind gets stumped.  See, you and DP helped educate me today and I have only had 1 cup of coffee.  Heck, what will I do the rest of the day, as I already learned something new.  🤔I'm being sarcastic my friend.

As for AlgoForce vs GPX-6000, vs Axiom, vs GPX-5000 vs Performance vs Cost = That's exactly why guys like you and I who detect a variety of styles, enjoy more than one detector.

Anyone who is knowledgeable in the field can easily make a detector performance look silly and inept.  Heck, I have been proving it for years, that a lower cost HF VLF detector with better Target ID can find more gold than a high dollar PI.  But at the same time, if the hunt changes, then I grab a different detector too.

As GoldCatcher mentioned on this thread, (as well as you/I/JP/Phrunt/Norvic and a few of other experienced users have said) It takes more than 1 detector to cover all bases.  Luckily, some of us can afford to own more one.

We all want to see other brands Succeed as we're end users and competition is great.  When the Axiom came out, I remember many people talking it down and some of them had never even used one.  They just had the Minelab Blinders on.  Now a couple yrs later, the general consensus is that the Axiom is a great detector when comparing Price vs Performance.

I hope AlgoForce does well and sells many PI detectors in the near future.  Hopefully new models come from it, that are even better at varying detecting tasks.  If so, then just maybe we see some better price points coming down the road from Minelab?  I think (I really don't know) the Axiom and it's capabilities vs price will push Minelab to offer a similar priced PI.  It's my dream, so don't piss on it.

Seeing video of different detectors and their results with this Black Sand, helps consumers.  They now know, if they have Black Sand sites to detect, some machines will not do as well as others.  If they fail to realize this is just one scenario, then that's their issue.  Doing your own research is a must.  Those that don't, they are normally not the ones who stay in the hobby long enough anyway.

We are loaded with them, all along the West Coast of both islands, a few on the east coast with varying degrees of black sand and most of the West of the North Island is severe black sand, this one is our biggest city Auckland's local beach called Muriwai Beach, basically the locals there can't go detecting at the beach as no detectors handle it except this exclusive club of PI's like the Axiom, Algoforce, legacy GPX series, TDI Beach Hunter and even the QED.

My 4500 that I passed forward now lives and hunts this environment with the 11" DD Commander.  I'm keeping my 5000 even though I'm unlikely to use it for gold prospecting because of this very reason.  We've been waiting for my daughter to finish school in a few years so we can start taking off around the country in the caravan, then I'll be needing my array of equipment.  I'd love to be the first to hit these popular black sand beaches with the correct tool for the job.

I parted with my QED before it visited a pure black sand beach but it ran fine on a mixed black sand beach.

The 4500 was better in this environment, but the QED worked.
