Was that a screw on cap?   If so, they are Aluminum.  Bottle Cap reject on a detector is designed for mild steel/bi-Metal pry off caps. Screw caps are different & hit like a high coin.

Some caps are mostly aluminum--Corona for example.  These need  to be recogniszed in other ways.

I only know of three types of Corona crown bottle caps. They may contain some aluminum but they have enough steel in them to be strongly attracted by a magnet. According to the recycling company I use, they cannot be recycled as aluminum.
 

Using the Legend F discrimination pattern, their audio responses are heavily attenuated at BC 4 and are silenced at BC 5 or 6 where I detect. I mostly hunt in discrimination pattern A and Coronas are easily identifiable by their different audio responses at different places on the search coil and by looking at the Ferro Check meter if they aren’t too deep and are in decent shape even with BC set to 1. If Coronas or any steel bottle cap are flattened or heavily rusted they may sound like a large coin.

My exact experience with the Equinox 800. Coming from a CTX 3030 I felt like the audio of the Equinox was horrible. Everything sounded the same no matter what size or depth. I’m a user who thinks the gain or modulation should be a user control feature like on the  FBS/CTX. Audio is everything to me.

Tried  the L35 in fast salt today--did not seem to like it very much.  the sites uneven bottom added  to the challenge and the L35 had to  be turned way down --lower than I would use  it--22 ish. If I saw in indication  that it still took deep targets at that setting would try again but for now Im pretty dissapointed.  Ran Any's Gold. Would love to hear suggestions.

The L24 was really good though-- brought up a clean signal on a silver bracelet that others had missed. 

Shame  a bout the L35 though Nokta coils have always had great interference muting.

Inland, I have had excellent results with the LG35.
