  • The title was changed to Major Floods In OZ

Thank you for your care GAU, we are very fortunate as we live up in the "northern highlands", the positive from all this water in the outback is it slowly flows into OZs "inland sea" Lake Eyre which fills only a few times each century, it then takes about two years to dry up and return to its normal dry condition. Floods, drought and fire...... Mother Nature at work, she is cruel on one hand kind on the other.

there is a lot of water out there Norvic, and it takes a long time to get away, lots of devastation out there.

so true dave , the water out there in the channel country ,even though it looks like it is travelling fast it can take up to 2 or 3 weeks to pass , plus the news crews never report the whole story as they hide in the towns that are flooded

they never stay for the clean up

the devastation of all the live  stock cattle ,sheep ,feral goats yes they muster and sell them to keep the money rolling in, native animals ,  is massive not the few pictures that they report

all the animals that have to be euthanised from being stuck in the mud is sole destroying but it has to be done

but if anyone travels to oz take a trip to the channel country when the tide is a fair bit lower you will never see anything like ever again

sad to say  rvpopeye the only benefit is for the graziers that have stock survive  ,they have fodder for a few years ,that's the sad part of it all

a lot of them would still be trying to get ahead from the last flood out there the year before covid if my memory is correct 2019/2020 if wrong feel free to correct me

lake Eyre is one of the wonders of the world or should be ,we have bird life from all over Australia flock there to breed as there is buggerall predators out there

a example rvpopeye is a snap shot of were i roughly live in oz and where lake Eye is from me and pelicans fly there to breed when lake Eyre has enough water there for them to breed and when it is full they have a few years of breeding going on

here at bundaberg QLD we notice when lake Eyre is full the pelican population here slackens right off

first pic is Lake eyre from roughly where i live

second and third is the channel country where most of this starts

this is what it looks like with normal rainfall but where a mate works out there on a property they  had 2 years of rain fall in 24 hours his boss has had 85% to 90% live stock loss and they are still counting

grumpy

Sad about all the lost stock.

I always stop to watch pelicans flying just above the wave tops , but I never saw one this far north . Too many might be a pain though. The gulls here sure aren't too popular with the boat captains...

Amazing technicolor pics !
