  • The title was changed to Is It True There’s A GPZ 8000 Coming Out By Minelab?

Seems highly likely. Like Steve says, the consequences of letting the cat out of the bag are severe for ML employees.....but a great many hints have been let go for some years now. Minelab marketing has revealed on video that 2 new detectors will be released this new financial year and one in particular is 'leapfrog' tech that will supposedly bypass everything else in its field. There is also a suggestion that this detector is a replacement for a much older machine in the market sector. Sounds like the Z7K replacement to me. The dealer conference next month is when we can expect more concrete info to surface.

Might well be a GM2000, their first SMF dedicated Prospecting machine as right now their treasure detectors are far superior to their Prospecting VLF for looking for gold and the Monster is old outdated tech without even simple things like wireless audio, someone's better off with a Legend, better ground handling, same sensitivity, more coil choices including large sizes, wireless audio, waterproof, the list goes on and on and even in the dated single frequency models both Garrett and Nokta are ahead of Minelab.  Nokta have discontinued gold VLFs ahead of the GM. It may sell well still in certain markets due to the brand name but the people buying haven't done their research.

Lets looks at history.

The Trademark for the GPX6000 was applied for (in Australia) on 30th July 2020 with final acceptance / registration of the GPX6000 trademark on 9th March 2021. Product launch was April 2021 -i purchased mine 19th April 2021 from the first batch on sale in South Australia.

So the time from applying for a trademarked name to launch is about 9 months - it looks like Minelab gives the final ok to proceed with production in Malaysia before final acceptance registration unless they airfreight the first batch.

There are no new applications for any trademarked names for a gold detector from Minelab - so maybe they will stick to the same timeline with a trademark application mid this year and have a product launch of the new gold detector(s) in March/April/May 2026 which will be just in time for the Australian winter.

I don't think much new information will be disclosed at the dealer meeting next month - just the same information we have now - there are new products to be launched in F26. After all we cant take away Minelabs marketing departments time to shine with their product launch (please Minelab - save money on the fancy video clips, they are a waste of time and to your target market ((serious detectorists)) they are cringe-worthy.)  What possibly will be front and centre at the dealer meeting is Minelabs plans for direct sales in Australia (like in USA) and how this fits in with the dealer network.

Why develop a dedicated gold VLF detector (GM2000?) when models like the Manticore already excel in Gold Mode, even though their main focus is treasure hunting? It appears that new VLF detectors will inevitably be crafted with versatile applications in mind. Eventually, VLF technology will reach its limits though, regardless of configuration, as innovation shifts toward PI and ZVT systems. However, I believe the prospects for a new 8000 are promising, provided it offers a unique and enhanced performance package. Despite differing opinions, there is still gold to be found out there.😁

Minelab are of the opinion the Manticore isn't a Prospecting machine, that was from the horses mouth, so that means they need to make one.

Plenty they can improve on the Manticore for Prospecting, bump sensitivity being the main one that bothers me, it is very touchy.

It would be interesting what they can come up with as a modern VLF dedicated for Prospecting. They didn't focus on that with the Manticore and it's pretty good so who knows if it's the goal what they can achieve.

Re "The Manticore for Prospecting"  recently talking to a Newbie to Gold Detecting, he was given 3 places to detect in WA Oz ( out from Agnew, Leonora and Lennister) and in 3 weeks with his new Manticore he and his wife found 16gms. In the Trashie area out from Agnew he mentioned about some red light helping to determine Rubbish or Gold ( I cannot recall as I am not a M.User)
