I was out last night on a super low tide and I used the seawater setting for about the first time and you can add on the sensitivity and it gets quieter. I eventually wound up in spots where I had to crank it back but it will go higher than low conductors/Dankowski. Congrats on the gold and clad. Our bay beaches are producing little and getting more sanded in. I'm researching alternatives. Geologyhound
That is a pretty little ring! Is that a tiny pearl I am seeing on the right side of the sapphire in those pictures (down in the notch on the shoulder)? 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28270-a-gold-day-metal-detecting-is-better-than-any-day-at-work/page/3/#findComment-295947 Share on other sites

My best appraised for $2400.....still waiting to dig one better than that. I wish, but it's just a trick of light. 🤔 The ring seems a bit crudely made from 2 rings, there are black "burn" marks on both shoulders immediately below the setting. I haven't tried to polish them out. My wife thought she might put it on a chain or bracelet because it is so small, but we don't have any September babies in the family so it went in the collection display box. Any day now.....next hunt....just a few more swings.... The Masons have one company that makes their rings, today it's 6 grand for that particular style with that diamond, they will still make it. It was made in the 1940s, so then it would have cost much less. I see them on eBay (i would not have done that) and some used jewelry shops for about $2k. Returning it to the landowner probably made me a friend for life, and got me another big permission. 🙂 That was a lucky find, the other 4 came from the same place, 2 in the dry and 2 in the water. Guess I'll be going back there... 🤔 The sixth one I found last November with the Deus. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28270-a-gold-day-metal-detecting-is-better-than-any-day-at-work/page/3/#findComment-295954 Share on other sites
Hunterjunk
The Manticore is treating you very well . Love the sapphire ring . Good to see you cranking up the sensitivity , there is real depth gain there , at the cost of falsing , but real targets come through the noise . 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28270-a-gold-day-metal-detecting-is-better-than-any-day-at-work/page/3/#findComment-295956 Share on other sites

Thanks, @Chase Goldman suggested trying Enhanced Audio, and I haven't looked back. 🙂 EA allows me to crank sensitivity up, I'll go a little past silent which ends up being 28/29. The chatter isn't loud, more in the background. Another trick to add to that increased sensitivity that @midalake suggested is using one tone with a Recovery Speed of 6. A double iron tone on a swing indicates a very good chance of a non ferrous target, and so far that has been spot on. I switch between 5 region and One Tone because they are next to each other just to evaluate more, a few swings are cheaper than a deep dig 😅 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28270-a-gold-day-metal-detecting-is-better-than-any-day-at-work/page/3/#findComment-295957 Share on other sites
Wild Bill
The gold ring with the blue stone is beautiful! It’s like a wreath. What do you suppose the stone is? Tanzanite? Yesterday I went over to help my daughter with a flat tire on her tractor. She had some fill dirt brought in awhile back where she built horse corals and a riding arena. She found some old iron in it and I detected some of it after it was leveled. Found more. Man that dirt hardened! I mentioned it but didn’t bring the detector. I need to go back and give it a go. Got home and was sitting and having an afternoon coffee and reading. I said to my wife “I think I’ll go detecting” but sat there for awhile. I thought you were going detecting she said. Yeah I am, I’ll just detect our place. We have 8 1/2 acres. So I’m out in the field and she comes to the fence “find anything?” YEAH A GOLD RING! I holler! I pick it out of the hole and hold it up! It’s a gold anodized aluminum kids ring with a black stone. Haha! There in the hole with a little plastic cowboy and two copper pennies from the early seventies. My wife grew up in a beach house in California. She remembers storm surf cutting the beach down a foot or two and as kids running out jumping off the cut to collect all the old coins sliding down the wet sand with each wave. Sometimes she’d collect $20-30 in old silver and copper! 1 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28270-a-gold-day-metal-detecting-is-better-than-any-day-at-work/page/3/#findComment-295960 Share on other sites
