It's a Sapphire. September birthstone. It's probably an old ring, some of the 4 others I found in this place are near 100 years old, the cocktail ring is 1950s-1970s.

I find gold rings relic detecting in farms as well, just not so often. In the last 4 years I've found 4, one was almost 300 years old. 🙂
