It’s an Axiom/PI thing.

Maybe old school wired phones is a better way to go! I can see PI transmissions getting in the way. I used to route a headphone extender cable to under the armcup on many of my older detectors and it worked as good and convenient as wireless... But given the wireless Garrett MS-3's and "Carrott", I'd never go back! đŸ™‚

I'm sure part of the problem may be frequency, BUT it really seems to be more direction related, which seems like they just made the transmitter antenna too directional and narrow, and signal too weak.

If it is actually just a frequency problem, that is just a dumb mistake, and I said at the time it was announced  they really needed to put Bluetooth in it before they sell it.  ALL detectors should NOT be required  to use proprietary headphones or additional exterior transmitters..!

Let me repeat once again - it works on numerous other Garrett models including the pinpointer. They did not redesign the antenna to be smaller and weaker just for Axiom. If it was directional using the WR-1 would fix the problem entirely as you can place it anywhere you want. It helps a lot but does not 100% eliminate the problem. They have used the system for years on everything else and just assumed it would be ok here also. Turned out not to be the case. Oh well. Have you written letters to Garrett? Demanded to talk to the CEO?

I totally agree about proprietary systems.

Wouldn't be nice if everything we purchased in life fit and worked with everything else made by everyone. In reality, it's never going to happen in a capitalistic economy. In Garrett's case, they are the last American original metal detector manufacturer now amongst growing worldwide competition. In my opinion, proprietary is one small way of protecting one's intellectual property. This is what spurs competition which is good for us all. If I was a fan and follower of another brand of detector other than Garrett, I'd still feel the same way.

I totally agree about proprietary systems.

But, if it's totally frequency interference related, why then does doing a frequency scan and change not seem to effect it.?

If a WR-1 separate module does not fix the problem, it almost sounds like some sort of processor timing glitch.  But the range even without the drop out is so limited something is wrong with the transmit power, especially if the WR-1 does not have such limited range, Does the WR-1 have range similar to the Equinox 800 for example, or also very short.?

No, I have not tried to contact Garrett or the CEO, I assume such a serious problem and all the talk on this and other forums has come to their attention, certainly you with all your pre production testing mentioned the problem.

I just believe NOTHING improves unless someone points out flaws and deficiencies, and hopefully that is the designer, BUT sometimes it takes an A-Hole like Me.!
