I found this at an old house site and found another one exactly like 2 miles from a fort in Mackinaw City, MI. Hope someone can tell what this could be used for. I'm guessing maybe on a horse. Unlikely to be a block and tackle pulley hook or horse tack based on the shape and orientation of the chain fastening point, but you never know. Rick N. MI Posted May 9 Author Share Posted May 9 It looks like a Civil War sword hanger. I think those were made of brass but this one is iron so it was hanger for anything. Probably not in a house but in a barn, building or outside for something. Never know what it was used for.
