I want a basic no frills PI detector with just an on and off button that is attached via Bluetooth to an AI enabled smartphone or pad as the controller for Christmas.

We are repackaging many of our same conversations and threads over and over.  AI has been discussed before on other threads as well as Detecting as an app.

There are some other threads that Jason has commented on as well.  Good content from him on that.

Unfortunately many of the threads you have seen others have not and then they disappear to far down the stack and searches result in poor recovery of these threads so its not surprising there is somev"repacking" that goes on.

I personally have no issue with these threads re-emerging sometimes, I may have renewed interest, and if it bothers you, it seems you could elect just not to read them....

Seems like no harm, no foul to me, and as this thread is 4 pages long, someone must have an interest....

My suggestion is for linking to some of the subject matter from previous threads.  I know the moderators keyword some of the threads, but good content is not revisited unless someone links it.

I tried to link more threads but could not think of those I didn't start.

The topic of smart and AI detectors is an interesting one to me.  I've wondered about its emergence ever since the basic IBM chip was replaced by other more powerful chips.  The Algo seems to have the most powerful chip right now that allows for reprogramming and just not eProm recalibration.

This type of technology will compete in the real world with cloud computing power/apps.  It will be limited for the nugget and remote hunters by the availability of internet.  That could really be less of a problem now with satellite signals that could be turned into a hot spot that can Wi-Fi or Bluetooth your detector.  These approaches deal with the computing power of the detector.

When you have your settings taken care of then where do you go?  The 3030 and the 7000 wanted to let you know where you have been and you could make a new trip in conjunction with your map programs.

We all know that where you go now is sometimes more important that what detector you have with you.  The holy grail will be to take indicators and turn them into targets.  Easier said than done.  I know professional geologists and archeologists that use all of the professional tools available to them but in the end they have to put boots on the ground, drill and prove their theories.  It is not a fool proof endeavor.

Some of us amateurs have to go out and find some things with the clues and luck we have and then let the professionals come after us and explain what we have found!

For me I see a big positive with AI. Codan, MLs parent company have over the years achieved much in what was noisy/scratchy long range HF side band communication without range loss using software. Their ZVT tech achieved a big jump in combating ground noise and giving us more depth, can they achieve the next big jump with incorporating AI smart chips that learn and adapt to varying ground and give us the Holy Grail of detecting... total ground control without depth loss.

5 years is an eternity at the rate of change in the develpment of technology. AI is an infant today, still making mistakes, 5 years from now a highschool graduate 5 years after that a Doctorate in everything... scary but true.... Satellites aren't just going to give detectorist a hot spot (thank you Elon), but the technology on satellites is reading into the ground. Not at the nugget level, but at the geologic level.... which will in turn put us hunting new areas we don't today know we should be. I am to old to see it all happen, but I see it coming.... for now, I am just going to content myself with scratching in the dirt where its nice and quiet........

Oh, I think I know what happened to some of our AI discussion.  It was lost in the reset of the forum after the indexing corrupted everything.  I looked for some of those 'discussions' and I can't find them.  It was just about a year ago.
