Detecting with CM
I've got this spot that has lots of nails and other iron objects including pieces of tin. What settings should I use on my Manticore to get the most desirable items detecting? Thanks for any advice. If the spot you are hunting has what you are looking for these settings will usually get it done. I believe all terrain general and ATLC does really well on high conductors because I have dug plenty of silver since owning the manticore. I run the reactivity at 4 even in the worst iron and it works great. My soil is pretty mild mostly. I recommend getting the M8 or M9 if you are hunting the thickest iron. Good luck. 4 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28467-what-settings-to-use-on-the-manticore-in-a-very-iron-trashy-site/#findComment-297509 Share on other sites
mntnflyr4fun
what is reactivity called on the manticore? That sounds like equinox nomenclature? mntnflyr4fun
You would think that Minelab could use the same language between detectors for common parameters to make their machines user friendly.... people might own more if the learning curve was reduce.... 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28467-what-settings-to-use-on-the-manticore-in-a-very-iron-trashy-site/#findComment-297568 Share on other sites
TdG
Hi, I am in the Netherlands and the sites I hunt contain a lot of iron, big and small. What I am using is a slightly adapted version of Life can be Simple by Luc van Assche. This setup gives a machine that is stable and not chatty. As someone else says, if you have one, go for the 9" or if you have the 8" take that one. Step 1 Factory Reset. Step 2 Select Settings. Step 3 Set volume to desired level. Step 4 Keep at All Terrain General. Step 5 Perform Rolling Noise Cancel until you get steady numbers. Step 6 Ground Balance set to zero. Step 7 Recovery set to 5. My setting is 4, I swing not to quick Step 8 Discrimination Pattern no change. Step 9 Ferrous Limits click edit and set upper limit to 8 and lower to 2. Mine are 7-2 Step 10 Ferrous Tones -> Stabilizer set to 1. Step 11 Target Tones set to 1-Region All Tones. My setting is 2 Region All Tones, TDI 0-4 P1 V0 TDI 5-99 P=20-40 V=25 Step 12 Audio Theme Normal then click edit and set to profile simple. My setting is Medium Step 13 Start detecting with sensitivity at 20 and slowly click by click increase the sensitivity until it starts to iron falsing then reduce by one click. This should be then the best setting for your ground. If you are still getting some iron falsing then increase the stabilizer from 1 to 2 and increase one step at a time until clear. 'Reactivity' is actually XP's term. Both the Equinox and Manticore use the term 'recovery speed'. Unfortunately this practice of manufacturer specific terminology goes way back to other companies as well. Don't expect it to change now.... 4 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28467-what-settings-to-use-on-the-manticore-in-a-very-iron-trashy-site/#findComment-297663 Share on other sites
