Ethan in Adelaide
Last two years I prospected in WA and saw many flies therefore I purchase a caravan with internal kitchen which greatly avoided fly issue. However I soon realized with the caravan there are many places I am unable to go through or can't afford to take the risks to go though such as creeks etc. So I am a bit regret as I should have bought a camper with kitchen inside as well such as Jayco Penguin? So I wonder what your setups are esp. for people who prospect in WA? phrunt
I have a Caravan from UK but it's only really for on road type stuff, I wouldn't take it into the wild as I'd destroy it 🙂 Some of the Jayco ones look like they'd handle a fair bit of off-road driving in Australia at least, maybe not so much here with it being more mountainous and just not suitable for Caravan's so much. I have a pop top camper trailer that I can take just about anywhere, it's been to some wild places and just bounces its way through, it's light enough if I get stuck, I can just move it by hand to get it out of trouble. Not much different to sleeping in a tent though except its got a little kitchen and a double and single bed. None of the luxuries of the proper Caravan though. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28472-whats-your-camping-setup-trailer-camper-van-tent-or/#findComment-297528 Share on other sites
Wild Bill
I spent years in a tent. Short wheel base two door 4x4, UTV trailer 5’ bed width, it tracks the same wheel path as the truck… and a tent. I’ve gone through two reliable 4x4 crew cabs with campers. I like this! Pricy but I can see a time when not as much gold as we would think… will be a fair trade. 4 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28472-whats-your-camping-setup-trailer-camper-van-tent-or/#findComment-297529 Share on other sites

Sgtfda
The last guy I ran into had a old truck parked in a wash. He and his dog were living under a tarp thrown over the truck they were getting by on the 5 to 10 dollars a day in gold they were dry washing. A woman called me and asked if I wanted to do a tv show. She said I would live out in the desert for several months off the gold I found. I told her you do it. I'll watch it on TV. I do have this and used it twice for camping at the rendezvous at Dons Camp. It's a tent cott and very comfy. 3 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28472-whats-your-camping-setup-trailer-camper-van-tent-or/#findComment-297538 Share on other sites
Sérgio Campos
Last few times I used a friend’s caravan. Much better than camping!! With the extra benefit of being able to charge batteries… my long term goal is an electric 4x4 caravan so I can have power heating/air conditioner 😀👍 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28472-whats-your-camping-setup-trailer-camper-van-tent-or/#findComment-297541 Share on other sites
Popular Post UT Dave
I use a tent when weather recommends it. In fair weather, I just put out a cot under the stars. Anymore, I do almost all my cooking on a small cast iron charcoal grill. A propane camp stove for boiling coffee water in the mornings. A small folding table and a camp chair. That's about it. My old Jeep gets me anywhere I dare to go. I rarely stay the same place two nights in a row, always on the move. So being able to setup camp in only a few minutes, then break it down and stow it again in the morning in only a few minutes is nice. - Dave 10 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28472-whats-your-camping-setup-trailer-camper-van-tent-or/#findComment-297549 Share on other sites
Ethan in Adelaide
i like this too but its very expensive, also its very high. I am concerned if pass creeks with large side slope the truck may fall over? 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28472-whats-your-camping-setup-trailer-camper-van-tent-or/#findComment-297557 Share on other sites
