These are excellent rings. My favourite is the cameo, always liked those. American rings are so much better than most of ours in England, a lot more gemstones.

That's a great old photo, I spend hours on those and old maps. Just one new even small area can pay off sometimes for years to come.

Keep digging!

Thank You! I almost gave up on that one. A few changes, different boots and went to the bigger stock coil has thrown my Pin Pointing off. 6 minutes ..10 digs, luckily I stayed with it. Video is a little boring but shows the frustration.

And I agree on the old pictures and maps, I've been Blessed in coming across these old long gone beaches.

  • The title was changed to AQ Hits 4 More, And Thanks Steve For The New AQ Forum!

Joe, good to see you back in detecting form after a summer (was it the last?) not being able to much.  And as usual, you find the goodies.

What is going on with those three (silver?) coins that have holes in them?

Thanks GB, I cut way back on my hunting the last few years for I needed to do some home upgrades. ...More to do but I decided last fall most of the hard work is done it's time to get back in the water... at least once a week. Yes, I have been very blessed in tracking down those beaches that time has forgot.

Silver here in the Chesapeake Bay takes a beating, salt and what ever else has been dumped (chemicals?) over the years sure eats away at the stuff. Some beaches are better then others. I know if the silver comes out of the clay its like it was just dropped. Other areas it can go either way, I guess where they set all those years all can vary too, surroundings.

Pretty interesting stuff, IMO.  There is a profession for someone (I'm serious) to study the chemistry of metals as it applies to coins and relics.  Maybe there is someone out there with that depth of knowledge but I've never seen him/her write about it.  Yes, you get people who provide lip service but what I've seen is just a smoke screen for lack of true knowledge.

They start studying and before long the bay would be closed off to swimmers. Its bad in some places, you dig and you can smell what might be human waste. I think years ago it went right into the bay at several of these places.. here is one.
