Ping!... Today marks 3 months since I ordered the new HF2 coil.     My life is not stalled waiting on an HF2 coil but I did expect it sooner.

I'm right there with ya... I ordered (and paid for) mine on May 17th. I'm glad XP looks to finally be distributing non-beta firmware (with all the bugs worked out now... right?!? 😉) but I struggle to understand why they would "release" a piece of hardware such as a coil but obviously not have the manufacturing output anywhere near sufficient to actually produce them in reasonable numbers. If they just wanted to get them in the hands of a few selected YouTubers and hobby "influencers" for testing why didn't they just say that up front, and not act like they were being released to the public which then allowed all the XP sellers to put them up on their website for sale to all of us common folk.

XP stopped shipping to the USA until the tariff amount for the EU was settled. Now that the amount is set at 15% they should start shipping to the USA again soon. Hopefully they filled enough orders in other countries while shipping was on hold to the USA that they will be able to ship larger quantities here in the near future. It has nothing to do with influencers on YouTube. I ordered mine the day that fully paid pre orders were allowed. Mine came in the second shipment. Waited about 6 weeks from the time I placed the order. Looks like you ordered yours a couple of weeks after I did. I placed my order on April 30th.

Honestly appreciate the optimism Jeff! 🙂 I would speculate that you were pretty fortunate to get yours because to my understanding there are VERY FEW (as in maybe a few dozen at most!) of these coils that made it into the hands of us average Joe buyers in the wild here in the US. It's almost like you had to know someone to get one. I purchased from Bart and as you know, he is a sizable, reputable, dealer. I checked in with him a few weeks ago and at that point he had received a grand total of 3 units from XP. I have to think other dealers had similar reports. The official word I received from XP a few weeks ago was (paraphrasing here...) "we are feverishly working on coil production as fast as we can, be patient". I would have much preferred to hear that they had production in full gear but were not shipping to the US pending tariff resolution. Again... I just think transparency goes a long way here... just be upfront and honest and most rational people will completely understand. Beats being strung along by a dangling carrot and being told that they are "coming very soon" for literally months.

I woke up on April 30th and made a decision. Am I keeping my Deus 2 rig or am I ditching it for good. I decided to keep it and that meant immediately ordering the HF2 coil since I was going to use it for gold prospecting and for micro jewelry hunting. I just went to Serious Detecting's website and pre-paid ordered it. I didn't get any favors or "know somebody".

Calabash Digger did offer to loan me one but I was not going to be home (taking care of a dying father) so I thanked him but said no. Mine was waiting for me when I got back home.

Ordered mine from Serious Detecting also on May 15. Was hoping to get the coil before I head out for a Labor Day weekend trip I've had planed for over a year. I'm not very confident that mine will arrive within the next week or two.

8 days made all the difference,  April 30 order by Jeff to May 8 when I ordered and paid.    If tariffs are the reason,  it must be nuanced. I don't hear about other XP product shipments stalled or XP products out of stock at dealers due to tariffs on French made electronics.  I see all the other XP products available for purchase with discounts, i.e. business a usual.

More power to you guys that got an early unit.  Keep working out the bugs for the rest of us and keep reporting on the performance and idiosyncrasies, particularly for HF applications like small gold.

  • 1 month later...

Another month gone by. 4+ months total.  No estimated delivery date for HF2 coil for me. I see it "sold out" at some places online.   In the meantime if there was a tariff uncertainty issue I think it is resolved now.  As of September 1, EU tariffs for France were fixed at 15%.    Anyone else receive a coil in the past 5 weeks or hear any news on when more HF2 coils are coming to the U.S.?
