Jeff McClendon
I was at an event this past weekend where Minelab USA had a tent. Debbie said hello to you Steve and wished everyone well on this forum. She said Minelab is just finishing up the display and target IDs. She hopes to have a GM 2000 by September to let people tryout here in the US. 4 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28547-close-look-at-gold-monster-2000-seminar-footage/#findComment-298093 Share on other sites
Steve Herschbach
The video answers one question at least- Echo WAVE is nothing more than a reference to the audio scheme, two tone VCO audio. Iron tone over "gold tone" no depth loss, so I am guessing Mixed Mode audio. In other words an all metal tone to full depth overlaid by a ferrous disc tone that works to a shallower depth. SMF frequency range from 12 kHz to 75 kHz. 3 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28547-close-look-at-gold-monster-2000-seminar-footage/#findComment-298098 Share on other sites
phrunt
They really put the big bucks into doing the pod/shaft design didn't they 🙂 The audio sounds a reasonable improvement over the GM, interesting choice of words though, VCO "style" Something that stood out to me is they told the guy if you drop it in water and quickly pull it out it will be fine, not the case with the GM1000, I know this first hand, mine got drenched inside when I fell over in a creek, it was in for a couple of seconds at most, I had to pull it apart, dry it out and clean it off with alcohol to get it working again, water got in everywhere through the speaker and into the battery area so maybe they've improved that. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28547-close-look-at-gold-monster-2000-seminar-footage/#findComment-298101 Share on other sites

I loves me a VCO hum..... 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28547-close-look-at-gold-monster-2000-seminar-footage/#findComment-298317 Share on other sites
phrunt
Note where it says "All the Info without compromising depth" Remember the GM1000 if you enabled discrimination, it was a massive depth killer, I never understood that as with the Equinox and later Manticore you never lost depth using discrimination, I guess another benefit of multi-IQ, I never really messed around much with the Nox in single frequency to see if depth was lost with discrimination. I used notching quite a lot on the Nox 800 while prospecting in multi frequency, it was necessary for hot rocks yet no noticeable depth was lost doing so. Just another reason why I always thought the Nox 800 was a far better prospecting machine than the GM, now the GM seems to be catching up. I've decided I'll jump in and get a GM2000 straight away and have contacted my dealer to be put 1st on the list. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28547-close-look-at-gold-monster-2000-seminar-footage/#findComment-298318 Share on other sites
