New Subforums

Thanks, I appreciate that. I am really just doing this to reorganize existing content based on the volume of past posts. Like I said, looking for around 3 pages of existing threads for any subject over the last 13 years. Modification related posts, well, there might be a handful at best. The ones that do exist tend to be model specific so fall into the various model forums anyway. Research/mapping has more possibilities though, will take a look at that. Might work if I lump GPS and drones also into that. Would not be a sub forum though, more like a new top level forum on it's own.

I get a little leery of creating a new more or less empty forum just based on request. In theory it might be a "make it and they will come" sort of thing I suppose. But I remember well two people who lobbied me to make a specific forum as they would create a lot of content for it, and once I did - they never did! There was another one, same thing happened. So bottom line I am letting the reality of what people have actually had an interest in posting about the last 13 years be my guiding light. Still, suggestions are welcome, for sure.

I used to worry about the clutter and people getting lost in the maze, but focusing on the New Content option as a home page helps solve that.

Looks like the are already around 4 pages under the GPS and mapping tag, plus about a page of drone stuff. So yeah, I'm liking that one, thanks for the suggestion. By tomorrow? Got some real life stuff to do today.

No problem, I’m sure it takes a good amount of time to moderate this forum. I totally agree on modification forum, but the research/ mapping I feel like is an area that most would really need help in. Without research my finds would be very slim. I’m sure some don’t do much research just keep following their buddies or hitting the same places over and over. I’m sure their bucket list of finds shows their research efforts. Location is the key to great finds. Very interesting topic. Sharing this is very helpful and important to finding the best places.

Yeah, after some thought I see that mods generally are model specific, no point in pulling them out of model specific forums and mixing them up.

The combined tags for research, gps & mapping, and drones turned out to be a doozy though. Work in progress but forum is up and running. I won't be done moving everything until tomorrow though.

I am... but not dead yet.  So I piddle around with this and that as the mood hits me. I am done now it seems with the forum shuffle, added a few more, the last being for Minelab BBS/FBS models, Sovereign, Excalibur, Explorer, E-TRAC, Safari, etc.

It will be interesting to see where the forum goes from here. AI driven search is leading to a marked decline in traffic so who knows how that will all end. I have no plans going forward other than to keep things running as long as at least a few people want to keep the ball rolling. Traffic these days is driven largely by new model releases, so a new Minelab Gold Monster 2000 and Nokta PI this fall should perk things up a little.

@Steve Herschbach Would it be a good idea to move the Posts on the less common but still in production detectors like DeepTech out of the defunct group of Tesoro, Compass sub forum?
