AI driven search is leading to a marked decline in traffic so who knows how that will all end.

It is nice to talk about new detectors and releases but for me I prefer LOOKING at FINDS.  AI can't dig that nugget, relic or beach find.  I'm disappointed lately at the lack of new finds posted and also by the reactions to the few.

Common guys and gals and show your reactions to posts.  It helps pay for the place!

@Steve Herschbach Would it be a good idea to move the Posts on the less common but still in production detectors like DeepTech out of the defunct group of Tesoro, Compass sub forum?

I never knew there were any there, will look and move to comparisons forum. I don’t move individual posts, only full threads devoted to a subject. So if somebody brings DeepTech up in the middle of a thread about something else, oh well. There are not enough actual DeepTech threads to rate a forum yet. Maybe 20 total at this time

It just always seemed odd to start a Thread on a currently made, but somewhat obscure detector in the sub forum for companies no longer in business.  Maybe a dedicated sub forum for "Other Brands" ?

A link to this thread you are mentioning would be very helpful. As I said before, nearly all Deeptech threads reside on the Comparisons forum, as shown by the tags thread I provided in my last post. I believe it was mentioned on the Tesoro Forum because it is the current brand most similar to Tesoro for those looking for detectors like that.

In the meantime I will setup a Other Brands Forum. I fear it will be a magnet for LRL and other junk, but hopefully I am wrong.

Again, please point me at this thread that's bugging you.

Thanks for the new sub forum for Other Brands. I think it will help when searching for info and in Posting new info.

There was not a particular thread I had in mind. I just knew it always seemed confusing for me to post about DeepTech if it was not in relation to a comparison.  I thought I had in the past used the Compass Tesoro... sub forum.

Your recent expansion of the site is all good from my view.

The Comparisons forum is also was an advice forum and so served as a dumping ground for posts about "Other Brands" There will always be some gray area threads that don't fit neatly one place or another, or just stuff people post out of place and I miss them. I agree that setting up a separate "Other Brands" Forum helps clarify it.

I set up the new forum and moved all the Deeptech, Golden Mask, Nexus, and Rutus threads I could find. Full threads, not just misc mentions on threads. Putting those four together managed to scrape up three pages of threads, my desired minimum for a forum.

I gotta agree, I think it was Gerry in Idaho that posted the picks of some of the most beautiful gold I’ve seen in awhile from the Garrett Gold Challenge ll  but the thread got such little traffic?  Yet AI got a ton of interest?  I participated in the AI thread as well because so many were infatuated with it.  While it has its place and can be useful in some areas it still takes research in old documents, records and sometimes geological understanding in order to find (detect) what you are looking for.  This isn’t always available to artificial intelligence.   I realize that AI can condense and reduce research time but it can also miss subtle information that your own intelligence can pick up on.  Here’s an example.  I’ve known about this for a long time.  A prospector found rich high grade float in an area I’m narrowing down.  It took the old timer two years to find the source and it became a high grade gold mine, along with others near by.  By reasoning and common sense (nothing artificial) I plan on hitting the area hard with detecting because that can’t be the only piece.  Many flash floods have come through the area and everything moved around both burying some and revealing new alluvium.  AI doesn’t know this nor can it do what is required, boots on the ground and a good detector in hand along with persistent work.  Don’t get me wrong, AI is fascinating and has a place in our hobby if that’s your interest.  Lately I’ve had one after another home appliance failures, two under warranty and one just outside of warranty.  It’s frustrating but comical in the nature of the failures and not cheap units.  I’m not going to get into it even if it is comical and entertaining!  I’m sitting at home waiting for the gas man technician and not detecting.  Plus my most reliable and willing detector prospector partner had a death in the family so when all is settled we’ll go detect this targeted area.  I will post what is found and I might want to bring in others that I believe have more experience and/or have a different or better detector so I can see and enjoy what they find.  Or shrug our shoulders and ponder why nothing was found.  I try to stay on subject but I am “Wild” Bill and can wonder a bit in how the subject matter can relate to another but I don’t want to be known as “red flag” Bill.  Steve Herschbach is the sheriff in town and has to walk the beat and maintain law & order here so it doesn’t fail.  I think we all appreciate that and the enjoyment of communicating with each other about this interesting hobby.  Keep up the work, I enjoy all of the finds both great and small!  We’re all a bit different, our perceptions, experiences and our finds.  That’s what makes this hobby and website interesting.  🤠
