Joe,

There is mild EMI but not too bad. I was running Sensitivity at 22 and had the threshold higher than normal so the iPhone would pick up the audio. Real conditions I have headphones on, a bit more sensitivity and a bit less threshold......but the results speak for themselves. All of the depth results and corresponding threshold breaks are "easy dig" targets. There were no target trace smears or numbers flashing up FROM excessive Sensitivity.......all were from metal targets. Hopefully you can understand most of what I am saying as an Aussie. Any questions then fire away !

*** Separate post for the video is probably best ***

Just wanted to mention again that I have done the buried target tests in my nice beach sand and they match the air tests. So these results are for my environmental conditions and experience with the machine. Having perfect hearing is also a bonus. The video and audio are basic so keep that in mind as well.

Those Sennheiser headphones in the background are awesome......you can get the Threshold setting into single digits and the volume way down if needed.

VERY Impressive, can you send me your settings.. Maybe that is where I went wrong? I was using the smaller coil 9 inch. Best I could get on a nickel was 12 inches with the small 9 and yours sounds different, you can hear the ramp up and ramp down.  And Thank You for taking the time to share.

MANTICORE with M11 coil

Volume: With good headphones, I have this around 20 (will vary from person to person). I don't like to max out any circuitry.

Search Mode: Beach Deep.

Noise Cancel: Always long press and I do two cycles.

Ground Balance: Zero for upper beach and middle beach. Wet sand depends on local conditions. I have no black sands 👍

Recovery Speed: Usually 3-4

Discrimination Pattern: All Metal

Ferrous Limits: 4/0. I have very little iron junk to deal with so I can run this setting almost open.

Ferrous Tones: I have some Ferrous Volume (10). Ferrous Pitch is disabled

Target Tones: Disabled

Audio Theme: Prospecting (Threshold Level and Pitch, Ferrous Tone are adjusted here to suit individually)

Frequency: Multi IQ

Sensitivity: Upper and middle beach (up to and including damp sand) 23-24. Wet salt sand about 21.

Using Beach Low Conductors is also good but Deep Beach (for me) just beats it.

The key power settings are Sensitivity > Search Mode > Recovery Speed > Audio Theme

The Manticore is quite forgiving in many settings but the extra performance is "cumulative" if you can optimise the main power settings.

I've got more to learn I'm sure.

to me this is when target trace comes to play on the manticore, while using very low ferrous limit. I can look at the screen for a glance the behavior of the traces to "gamble" if its iron or possibly non ferrous collocated targets..

Absolutely.....I can also trust the accuracy of the target trace especially in white beach sands. I can detect for 30 minutes and not even hear/see iron junk. Running those ferrous limits in an iron trashy beach might be tiring on your ears after a while so adjusting them is probably needed. My deepest gold ring was a measured 20" resting on a crushed limestone and shell layer.....the first sweep was a soft break in the threshold and a faint dot right on the centre line....ID was about 10. Naturally the dot got bigger and darker as I dug down and the ID ended up around 35.

How did you retrieved the ring man.. my sand collapse back in the hole at 14 inches to 16 inches .. lol

what's your take on ferrous limit as one of the power setting

Still working on that.....maybe the Manticore has less to "process" with an open screen

Not in the water but on the lower beach although I had reached the salt water table but the limestone is a natural and permanent barrier.

I've been asked how big the gold ring is.....so here is the answer.

18K gold ring / 6.65 grams / OD 23mm / Thickness 1.3mm.

Tony, I would say your not in the need of a PI!!

I'm close to buying one and just hope I can get the same results, if I do. The screen would be useless for me since water vis is almost zero, all I need is deep and if it hits 16+ inches on a 6 gram gold I would be happy. That would relive some of the pressure of worrying about issues with the AQ.

Thanks for all the extra Tony. And Keep me informed on your quest for deeper..

Same here

At the ocean I did have that issue and there is no digging of deep targets when waist deep and up, the sand is to fluid, than add the rough waves smashing you. Its hard to pass them up, just have to keep moving.

As far as the Bay, where I hunt now I can get down to about 14 to 16 fairly quick, anything deeper I have to widen the hole. I have dug a few down around 18? But water was calmer and I was not out to deep. It gets to the point you have to go under to kick the scoop. Sometime I've even kicked the handle just above the scoop. I do have to say the Chucks 720 is a big help for it takes a nice bite out of the sand, being 7w x 6t x 14 deep.
