Real or fake?

https://md-hunter.com/new-metal-detector-xp-icon-7x-first-photos/

Reply from XP, according to ‘The History Digger.’ “… photos come from US testing organization … not up to date.” “… characteristics listed … not accurate.”

However, that’s not a denial that a new detector isn't in the works.

If the picture is just “not up to date,” then there is a newer version.

It's real

Trademarked it already

It's a lot closer than we think too with the FCC already done

The photos they've got are from the FCC testing here

I think Steve's right, a cheaper version as XP are missing out on a huge market by only really having their SMF technology in their high end unit.

It has a weird little joystick type thing on the side, not quite sure what that is.  Plenty of reading to do now on the FCC site.

No coil cable connector, so it's wireless coils, hopefully using the XP Deus 2 coils.

It has a different ID scheme. I’m assuming you’d have to update the coils, and you wouldn’t be able to switch back and forth.

The thing on the side is a USB port. After Garrett’s problems, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what changed.

Looks nice.

Oh I see, yes it has a lock and unlock on it, sounds like it's waterproof to need that.  (Update: It's said to be IP68) so 2 to 5 meters I would guess.

This image shows the screen on with big ID's

Confirmed its wireless for coils from the cover letter on the FCC Site.

  • The title was changed to New XP Detector? ICON 7X

Creating controversy and hearsay seems to be today the best way to introduce new products! They take on a life all their own! That's called free advertising. Nice to see XP catering to those of us with aged eyes. That was the main point for me to dismiss both Deus' and ORX when I had mine. It honestly cemented me back to my Apex quickly. They need graphic help on the upper legend. The size and weight might be a little risky for an already minimal attachment though.

Looks like what the ORX was to the XP Deus. Not as adjustable but basically the same performance as a Deus. Be interesting to know if there's a gold program in that unit.
