GotAU?
Nice video, Steve, thanks for sharing it! Question-several people were mentioning that they used the Axiom “Lite”, and the background banner even showed it, but they also mentioned using the DD accessory coil. Did most make that switch, and did the site ground condition make it a better choice than using the stock “Lite” package mono coil? Thanks! Popular Post Steve Herschbach
Axiom Lite is just the default package people buy these days. Many then add other coils and use what they like. Any coil would work at this location. I used the 11” mono which I prefer for weight/balance/performance in rough terrain and tight quarters. I can’t speak to other peoples choices. Keep in mind some were just using whatever Garrett provided them. I’d not read much into it. The only bit I found was before official start of competition so as far as that went I drew a big fat zero. I’m just happy to have found anything at all. 7.33 grams 19 1 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28761-mother-lode-gold-finds/#findComment-299485 Share on other sites
GotAU?
I was mainly curious about it as that looked like some really iron-rich soil. I’d think that the Australian couple felt at home in it there. It was nice to see that, especially with the newbies doing well with those two detectors. Steve Herschbach
The ground was not near as bad as the redness makes it look. Only moderately mineralized at worst. I ran full sensitivity Fine mode, mono coil no problem. 3 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28761-mother-lode-gold-finds/#findComment-299487 Share on other sites
dig4gold
Nice find Steve. Well done. Those size suckers aren't too easy to find these days. Sure beats my 9 tiddlers for .58 of a gram with my 6000 & 10x5 Goldhawk coil the other day. Wild Bill
Steve, is that a Tertiary channel? Really nice gold and barely placer warn! Very encouraging. Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28761-mother-lode-gold-finds/#findComment-299497 Share on other sites

Most of the gold in the video is residual hillside gold, right out of the vein. The bit I got is placer from a small drainage running down the hill. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28761-mother-lode-gold-finds/#findComment-299499 Share on other sites
