The NF 8*6 inch MK2 coil has quality defects, but the performance is still good. The bolt ear is brittle and easy to break. A total of 6 coils were shipped, 2 of which had problems, 1 was broken, and 1 had micro-cracks. It was judged to be due to material problems.

Have you contacted Nugget Finder first before you posted? Rohan's good with backing up his products and he's very honest to deal with.

Not long ago I posted about plastic detector parts.  The use of brittle plastics as opposed to malleable plastics.  There is a choice.  Also the ear is thick and that’s good but half of the plastic holding the ear is not even there for what ever reason.  A poor design made it through quality assurance and would require a new design.  Possibly a recall unfortunately.  As good as the coil electronic performance may be, a structural engineering change is required so it can be used in real field conditions.  It’s unexceptionable as is.  Back to the drawing board.

I have no problem with the performance of the coil, but I think the material of the bolt ear is not good. I hope they can improve or reinforce it. Their official website cannot send pictures.

I don't even know if Nugget Finder have a dealer network in China, but the reason I ask is I wasn't sure if you judged that as the problem or if that's what NF told you.

If it's something you brought into China yourself and it came in the mail, it's worth remembering that Australia Post ship millions of parcels every week. Any package in a mail bag or not eventually travels loose until it rolls along a conveyor belt and drops into a ULD. If there's nothing in the ULD your parcel falls 1 metre to the bottom. People can ship up to 20kg international from Australia, so if the ULD is empty you could end up with a 20kg parcel dropping on top of yours somewhere along the way. And no amount of packaging will save something that is accidentally shut in a mail van door or backed over- All of which I've seen a number of times over the years. That doesn't help your very real problem, but it does seem a big call to judge the product materials as faulty without further investigation.

Were they broken during shipping or are these defects that showed up with use?

I wonder why they switched off the EVO style ears, I always thought they looked the best in the business

I have these new style ears on my Xceed coil, they seem fine but that coil doesn't get a lot of use.  Being crushed in a package is probably more down to packaging used more so than build quality though.  If they did that during use that's more of a concern.

I thought exactly the same thing Phrunt. They use the same style mount on my 25" DDX and it looks pretty bullet proof.

It’s nothing new.  Some manufacturers have beefed up their designs.  There’s some very high strength epoxies available and that’s what I would try.  Other than that, exchange for a new replacement.
