Popular Post Compass
An old friend of mine and I spent the day detecting at a lake. I was using my Manticore with the M8 coil and he was hunting with my 30 year-old Fisher 1280-x since his Aquanaut was broken. He found a gold "trap house" ring and I found a 10k heart pendant in addition to several non-gold rings and a broken bracelet. The bracelet reads as a 9-10 on the Manticore and is very thin but weighs a surprising 11.2 grams. It has no markings and the 10k acid test seems a bit iffy but even 8k at 11.2 grams would be nearly $400 in melt today so fingers crossed. 🤞 We didn't know what a trap house was until we used Google Lens and took a picture of the ring. Until then my 80+ year old friend was wearing the ring like a proud peacock. My guess that the ring was related to Habitat for Humanity or something similar was a bit off. 😄 13 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28825-good-day-at-the-lake-with-questionable-finds/ Share on other sites

King-Of-Bling
Nice finds. Only thing I might add is maybe your acid is old. That can cause those iffy readings. At least that's what my jewelry guy tells me. Acid should be changed out every 6 months. But wth do I know. 2 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28825-good-day-at-the-lake-with-questionable-finds/#findComment-300170 Share on other sites
TampaBayBrad
Wow.....great hunt! That's a lot of rings for one hunt. The ring top left looks interesting. Tungsten bling? Ring right center isn't real? 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28825-good-day-at-the-lake-with-questionable-finds/#findComment-300175 Share on other sites
F350Platinum
Fine bit of hunting there Compass! That looks like a hand worked bracelet, quite the find and probably old. See if you can get a jeweler with an XRF gun interested 🤔 You're doing a heckuva job with that M8. 👍🏆 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28825-good-day-at-the-lake-with-questionable-finds/#findComment-300176 Share on other sites

Thanks KOB, That thought did cross my mind. 3 hours ago, TampaBayBrad said: Wow.....great hunt! That's a lot of rings for one hunt. The ring top left looks interesting. Tungsten bling? The ring center right was my last target and looked good in the scoop but is unmarked and not gold. The ring left center may be the best ring of the bunch but is silver. 1 hour ago, F350Platinum said: Fine bit of hunting there Compass! Yes, I think that I'll stop by my local jewelers on Monday. 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/28825-good-day-at-the-lake-with-questionable-finds/#findComment-300178 Share on other sites
