  • The title was changed to Back to the Beach, Got the Good Stuff

You've had a great time there.  Really like the diamond ring, its one my wife would snap up!

Plenty of coinage there for the two best detectors displayed nicely in the great photos.

Sure you'll give it another go. Imagine another 10 feet off that curent layer!

Thanks! I'll be back there in about 6 months, it's a beautiful campground on the ocean, about 400 miles away from where I live. This is my second and last trip there this year. Low tide was around mid day all week, so it was really hot, over 90F most days. My wife loves the shopping and restaurants, I get out early in the morning to detect.

I find both detectors to be equally good at finding whatever is there, it's a "replenished" beach so the original sand is about 3 feet under the dredged sand. Storms merely uncover what fresh drops others missed, but sometimes there are some fairly old coins, hence the wheat penny.

My last long trip this year will be to another beach about 200 miles away, I did find a 350+ year old Spanish coin there in the past. I'm hoping it doesn't get too filled in, the hurricane affected that beach more than this one.

Thanks Geof,

I was a part time weekend photographer in the past, got the best weddings because the studio owner loved riding in my convertible. 😅 I was a Nikon user, film before switching to the digital D100, loved my old F4s. Now I just use my trusty Samsung Z-Flip 6 phone and edit. 🤣

Were I to risk using a much better camera now it would be a Fujifilm digital with old Leica lenses.

Good show 350 , errr I mean hunt !  The ring looks mahwellous , absolutely mahwellous ! The nail , not so much..🤔 hope it only needed a plug.

Loved the look of that cut . You needed 2 hurricanes to dig that out deeper ...

Thanks RVP,

Those tires are pretty much tractor trailer tires, heavy and huge. Last time I picked up a nail we had to buy a new one. Tire man plugged it but it didn't hold, this was a nastier nail. 😵 She was going down fast according to my tire alarm.

Luckily the RV has Hydraulic jacks so getting the tire off is fairly easy, there's a spare under the RV with a winch to lower it. It took about an hour and we were on our way. I keep a torque wrench handy.

As Erin passed not much happened, she was 300 miles offshore.

There was no cut or scalloping as she approached on Tuesday and it was only by Saturday that the surf got nasty. They closed the water Friday.

Got some great advice "live" from @ColonelDan to grid the low scallops and check the cut edge, I heard that before when I was in Cocoa Beach from another member. 🤔 This beach is very similar to Cocoa Beach, thick sticky heavy gray dredged sand that turns white when it dries. It's pretty but hard to get out of the scoop when it's wet.

Coins were "find a minute", I averaged 40 a day. Too bad that wasn't the ring count 😅

Always nice to see someone do well at the beach! Low scallops and detecting around the cuts is great advice!
