Very interesting that he still has the original detector plus two new models . The top one comes with the beast coil but the other two come with the elliptical stock coil. I’m sure you can buy the beast coil for the others but what I’m wondering if one can buy the beast coil to start with. I guess it’s one way I can find out but not just yet.

PS This should stop all the wondering of what Dimitar had up his sleeve. Well it should of but now I’m wondering about the end model and all in the 9 KHz range.

So they all appear the same hardware with different firmware? Especially the new two, even the same housing with just the MDT 8000 branding on the actual detector, not a model specific housing.  Garrett has a patent on the upgrade path via firmware updates or else Tarsacci looks like they could do the same where you could pay to upgrade to the better model's firmware.

Some differences in frequencies available:

Original model: Operating Frequency: 6.4 kHz / 9 kHz / 12 kHz / 18 kHz

XD model: Operating Frequency: 4.8 kHz, 6.4 kHz, 9 kHz, 12 kHz, 18 kHz

XUO model: Operating Frequency: 9.0 kHz / 9.1 kHz / 9.2 kHz / 9.3 kHz / 9.4 kHz / 9.5 kHz / 9.6 kHz / 9.7 kHz

I think a key to the top model's ground handling capabilities over the others will be these lower frequencies being less sensitive.

One advantage I see for the guy that has the original Tarsacci just maybe it will whole it’s value if nothing has updated on the low end of the three.

I think the original 8000 is still on the site because they still have left over stock.  The UXO is the Unexploded ordinance model and its frequencies are probably geared towards mine detecting and larger metal objects, also this model is only IP-67.

As for upgrading the firmware of the original 8000 to the new DX version, thats probably not going to be possible.  On the dankowski forum, Dankowski posted this a few days ago:

"And we DO know that Gen-1 Tarsacci's cannot be upgraded to Gen-2 Tarsacci status."

I'm guessing the have similar hardware but their are differences to the new hardware that would prevent the new firmware from working on the original 8000 model.

Also Dankowski posted this awhile back and it might be good to have it here as well,

1. It is called Tarsacci MDT-8000 DX
2. $1750.00 USD
3. Measurably deeper
4. Adjustable Tone Break(s)
5. Adjustable iron Volume. (Adjustable non-ferrous/conductive Volume also)
6. Not a VLF
7. Specifically targets bad dirt.......... and Salt/saltwater
8. Enhanced SNR
9. Enhanced stability
10. New OS (Operating System)..... to include: some of the new algorithms
11. Which means: Old units can not be 'upgraded' to the new OS..... however =
12. Old coils (and phones) ARE compatable with the new Operating System
13. Enhanced threshold
14. Uses the same battery (with fairly close to the same batt life expectancy
15. Same housing (yet, even further enhanced IP-68 waterproof)

I’m doing a lot of wondering but is Dimitar offering free shipment within the USA like some others do? I know by my own experience it wasn’t offered to me in past.

I suspect the XUO version is limited to only differentiating between ferrous and non ferrous to a certain relative depth, no real target ID.  In other words a tone ID Cache unit with limited small target sensitivity.  Maybe the evolution of the MDT platform has pushed beyond this, if so that would be a big advancement. Still a specialty unit for sure. The folks in Europe hunting battlefields will like it. I will watch for some tests on it and the DX version but will stay content with my original version.

Reading through manuals of the UX and UXO versions it looks like they're basically the same. The main differences are the frequencies, IP rating, and the UXO version has less audio settings.

I'm thinking the all the 9khz frequencies on the UXO version is another way to simplify the choices for the user, the 9khz range may be the best frequency for this dectector to find different unexploded ordinances.

The extra 9khz frequencies may also be used to frequency shift to deal with interference when multiple UXO's are used at the same time even though the manual doesn't mention this, just a guess.

Could be, but my other detector that has an specific mode for the same type of large deep targets is single frequency only(on a SMF machine) in the 7 kHz range.  The "cache" type mode is slow SAT motion All Metal with tone ID.  Not conducive to coin size targets.  It is intended for traditional 2 Box hunting, but with just the one coil.
